A cat poem from Ursula K Leguin's new book of poetry "Finding my Elegy"

http://www.ursulakleguin.com/UKL_info.html

I think of them

all, their beautiful eyes,
gold and green-gold and beryl,
soft paces, silent presences,
the tail drawn across the wrist,
caress and blessing, the resolute
pursuit of comfort. All the floor
invisibly innumerably patterned
with four-petaled flowers. Laurel
crouched in the dignity of his agony
purring when I petted him.
Young Lorenzo poised cocky on a perilous
branch. A carton boiling over
with kittens, forty years ago. All the air
alive with ghostly leaps. We share the bed
with still, companionable warmths
through nights of how many winters
gone, dark now, and yet to darken.
