Yoshi with the lobster I made him for his wiggly giggly ball

I had mentioned sometime before that I'd try to get some photos of the lobster cover I made for my pooch's wiggly giggly ball though I couldn't get any of just the lobster because he doesn't like me playing with the lobster without him. I used just red felt materal and pillow stuffing for the claws and tail and just embroidered black circles on it for eyes since I couldn't think of any other way to make lobster eyeballs. On the underside is a velcro strip so I can take the ball out and throw it in the wash when it gets filthy. I had to make a new tail for it (this is with the new tail sewed on) because felt isn't really the best material to have used and he shredded it pretty good since he picks it up by the tail and swings it around.

As you can see, in these pictures his nose if all dirty since he was making mudpies in the back yard earlier after yesterday's rain. And yes, that's a paperback book in the background that he ate (I never liked that book anyway though). You can also still see the bald spot on his one arm from where the IV was when he had his neutering surgery. Takes forever for the hair to grow back.

2. the dog or the lobster?

LOL! Hey, making that lobster took me days. It was interesting though, and it came out even better than I expected it would. Now I want to make a penguin cover, too, but I'm not sure I have enough black and white scrap material. The hardest part is finding more wiggly giggly balls in this bigger size. I can't find anywhere that still sells them. Even the few places listed on the net that SAY they have them don't actually have them in stock and aren't getting anymore.

Man, he's STILL all dirty in these photos! All that white on his neck and chest is supposed to be ALL white... all the tan bits are actually dirt from him flopping in the mud. Every time I think I get him reasonably clean he's dirty again. I never noticed Boo getting all dirty like that since it blended into his coloring. And he's back outside in the yard again right now pretending he's peeing but I just KNOW he's secretly playing in the dirt!

Thanks! I think he's a handsome guy, too.

Is he a strong chewer? Our shepherd can burst the
Kong squeaky tennis balls, but she loves her chewy
toys that make noise. We call them her doggy chewing
gum. She'll walk around the house just squeaking away.
...until she finds a place to lay down and pick it apart.

Good luck making the penguin. The lobster turned out
beautifully!

Yoshi chewed off the whole section that has the velcro so he could get the ball out. He's never done that before. I think he did it this time because lately I've been paying so much attention to his lobster in fixing the tail and then trying to clean it up to take the pictures. I think he got sick of me fondling his lobster... or he got hungry. LOL!

So... while he's outside napping in the mud I have to dash off and fix Mr. Lobster again. Something tells me I need some other stronger kind of material - the felt is just not at all the right sort of stuff.

But I have a big hunk of it. It had been one of those skirts for a Christmas tree many years ago, and I never threw it out because I always thought I should do something with the material. I farted around and watched a movie while I did the surgery. Mr. Lobster is temporarily good as new now... until Yoshi decides to eat him again, but since I got my new boots now he's interested in munching my old useless beat up pair. He's at that chewy stage where he wants to chew up everying... usually one or more of my body parts like fingers and ankles.

I was wondering about denim... do they make red denim material? Corduroy might be a good idea... I didn't think of that. Something really tough and that won't stretch out of shape when he grabs it by a claw or the tail and swings it around.

The felt doesn't seem to absorb slobber either. Kind of like when you sneeze snot accidently on a wool sweater... hate when that happens.

He must have thought I was molesting his lobster. He sat RIGHT there watching everything I was doing with it. Anytime I throw his dirtied up toys in the wash he gets upset and doesn't want to leave the washing machine until they come out. I just realized in the photos he's doing that same rather indignant look just like he does when I take a shower or bath... how DARE I play in the tubby without him!

He picked out that duck or goose or whatever it is himself at the doggie store. He knew immediately that's what he wanted once he heard the lovely honking noise it made that's kind of similar to his farting hedgehogs.

I just love my fuzzy big beastie soooooo much! I have to go run and hug him now...

One of our GSD can chew through a tennis ball in less than five minutes and the other loves her squeaky toys. We got her a hedgehog for Christmas or rather Santa Claus Dog did. It squeeks and makes a sound. To me the "grunt" sounds more like passing gas but she likes it.

Which is probably why we have four... I think I get them more for me to laugh at then the dog to play with. One of them recently went defective and doesn't make the fart noise anymore... I have no idea why, but that was the cheapo knock-off version that I found on sale at the supermarket. I'll just have to get another one to replace it... you can never have too many farting hedgehogs.

He loves things that make noise, but I think he likes the things that make lower tone noises the best, like the hedgehog, the goose, the duck and the wiggly giggly ball. The wiggly giggly ball is his all-time favorite and also the favorite of my other two doggies before him because it's inconsistent in making the noise, so it's endlessly fascinating.

Do you think it looks like a lobster? I wasn't sure how to do the "head". Before I put the claws and tail on I thought it looked like a ladybug without the spots, and I can't seem to stop thinking that's still what it looks like to me. It did come out better than I expected it would (it was kind of an experiment to begin with), but I'm glad you think so, too... it's not very often that my experiments like this work out very well. But what the heck, mostly I just do stuff like this because I can't stand having idle hands.

They start looking around. LOL I hit a sale and got a big and little one. Farting goes on every day.

I think your lobster looks like a lobster. You could probably sell them-more hedgehogs.

The dog is adorable too.

My dogs are mostly interested in tearing their toys apart. Felt would not last ten minutes with either of them.
