Related: About this forumkittens!
Two days ago, I took on a pregnant foster cat from the shelter I volunteer at. They thought she might deliver in a few weeks. Imagine how surprised I was to check on her this morning and find her with three kittens! We were in the next bedroom and didn't hear a thing--she did it all by herself.
All seem to be doing fine. Mama has already wolfed down a whole can of Friskies and licked the bowl clean. I think she must have had kittens before and is quite the pro.
And not to worry--this is her last litter. She will eventually be spayed at the shelter and put up for adoption. But she'll be with me for probably two more months, until the kittens are big enough for adoption, and then an extra week for her to dry out.

Look at her face.
Thank you for doing this.

(17,276 posts)Although there is a certain feeling of responsibility, and when I take them back (I've fostered over 30 cats in the last two years), I feel sadness mixed with relief!
Will be posting updated pictures. Even with eyes closed they are still cute.
