Related: About this forumI have made my decision...
So at the place where I'm currently living, one of my roommates is taking care of a friend's cat for 5-6 months.
Here's a picture:
She and I...get along rather well. I'm the only "cat person" in the house, and the only one that really gets her. When I get home, she sprints to the door of my room to be let in (closed because of other roommate's dog). I've bought her catnip mice, treats, a brush, and her favorite toy: her "bird" on a string, which she looooves. She'll kill it and then drag it around for a while, and she puts up a heck of a fight if I try to take it back.
Anyways, Cat and I like each other. A lot. So here's the thing: for whatever reason, it sounds like the owner may or may not eventually come back to pick her up. Roommate is moving to Alaska in late summer, and won't want to take her. Sooo...it is possible I may end up with her
But the real decision is that even if that doesn't work out, I'm going to adopt from a local shelter. I'll have my own furball for the first time!
I'm pretty excited

I am glad that she will not be in a bad situation, even though it could easily have gone that way from the sound of it. I have had cats in pairs most of the time, but I have always thought that every one of my cats would have been happier being an only cat. No loving on each other here. In fact, I adopted a cat a few years back and decided that he would be that only cat....then life got in the way and a little Persian stray showed up. That was December, and these cats fight all the time....several times a day. Makes me crazy. (It is the little Persian who is such a bitch though.)
I am just saying that to let you know that having just one cat is not a bad thing either. However, the local shelter will be very happy to find a great home for one of their needy babies.

You make a very good point about cats living together. The cat I grew up with was an only cat, and I'm sure would have preferred it that way. This one, though, is so outgoing I think she'd enjoy another. She only has problems with the dog because he attempts to chase her every time he sees her. When there was a small dog around, she wasn't bothered by him at all. I have a feeling she and another social, active cat would get along well.
I swear, I've heard this so many times... "I was going to just have one cat, but then...other cat happened"

K&R!

I like the name, too. The cat I grew up with was called "Bug". My dad came home one night to his apartment (this was a few years or so before he met my mom) to find a small black kitten eating out of his trash. He gave her some food, went to work, and came home to find her purring on his pillow in his sleeping bag. She bugged him, and he adopted her immediately

(99,556 posts)Our two other cats we had at the time thought he was nuts. But it made picking out a name easy.

(32,950 posts)Son is more willing to play and cuddle. Mom will allow a bit of cuddle, and smack him for wanting to play. Some cats like to, some won't. Your cat looks like my son cat, Majik.
