Anyone interested in adopting a very sweet, young, male black (mostly) cat?

I seem to be a cat magnet. This young fella showed up at my place of work yesterday; he is skinny as heck, but extremely sweet. I've seen him on and off for a few weeks (and have been putting out food) but yesterday was the first day he started to talk to me and approached me, asking for a head-scratch. I will continue to feed him but at this moment I am literally without a place to live at the moment so I can't take him in and I can't foster him. I have places to stay - so I will be fine - but I have no capacity to care for him the way he needs to be cared for - I have to focus on getting a place of my own. (Our landlord sold the house we rented pretty much right out from under us and I have my own pets and was not able to find a place that will take them and me in the amount of time we had to vacate). I do have resources to get my own place - but just have not had enough time yet to do so.

He's going to be big, once he fills out. He was probably born this spring. He's mostly black, with white whiskers, white toes, and a white bib on his chest. A little skittish because I think he's had to survive on his own, but NOT feral. He wants a home. I'm checking in with the resources near me (north-western Virginia) but I've had pretty good luck with cat lovers here on DU before.

Please drop me a PM or reply to this message if you are interested or know someone who is. I do have photos that I can email - but at the moment I don't have photobucket or any other place to upload photos to put into this thread.

Thanks for any assistance.

I don't know how close they are to where you live. Maybe they would be able to find a foster family for you. Good luck. Thank you for helping the kitty.

adoption situation in a few weeks - the issue will be getting from here to there (he needs to have someone take him to the vet for testing - FELV and FIV - and shots, and then a neuter).

I just can't get all that done at this point - (on edit: I can pay for it but don't have the time / transportation to do it!) hopefully they can rally someone to do the vet run. Still working on it.

Do you want a sweet male cat (he looks sort of like the famous Chat Noir (only with a bit of white)? As in, you'd adopt him if we could get him there? Or, you would do it if the only other options are bad ones? Just wondering.

I'm a cat lover. I've always had black and white cats, though right now I also have a pretty grey and orange tabby type, as well as an orange feral who hangs around. My oldest is 14...Piewacket, and she is a beautiful tuxedo cat.

Let me see if anything shakes out here in the next 1-2 weeks and if not, I'll see if my husband wants to take a drive

If you want to PM me an email address, I'll send you photos later -- probably in a day or two (depending on if/when I can get him to sit still for a minute in decent light).

He seems to have permanently moved into the bushes by the office - he is there all the time and is an absolute sweetheart.

Found someone who will be able to pick him up, keep him overnight before the vet (and hopefully keep him after he's neutered for 1-2 days since I don't have a place to keep him quiet/confined post-op). I have had a hard time finding a foster here - one person has a cat that has FIV and "Rex" (what I'm calling him after seeing Pillow Talk recently) is at the moment a bit territorial with other cats, I'm assuming because he's unneutered. Well, he chases off my timid feral female that I've cared for for years (she's spayed).

Have you ever had a cat that bitches at you? He's funny that way - all soft and gentle unless I offend him in some way (touching his toes, or today I tried to steer him away from my feral and he was displeased), and then he verbally cusses me out. It's kind of funny.

Anyway, I'll keep you in the loop. Thanks again for being an option. Would Piewacket and your others be intimidated by this guy? I think he'll stop being territorial once the hormones quit surging through his system.

Have a good weekend.

Piewacket will be fine and is so used to newcomers she just yawns when she sees them lol.

Peach and Sneakers are the other two. Sneakers and Peach were both born on the farm where we all live. Both born of the same mom (feral) and I managed to tame both of them. Peach is a love bug, but Sneakers comes and goes as he pleases.

It's 26 acres with several choices for furfaces of the feline variety to choose from as to their favorite spot. Pie usually stays with me in a large RV. Sneakers hangs out down at what we call "the chapel," an open air living space. Peach goes between the those two and yet another RV between the two places lol.

Other inhabitants include Bogart and Penelope (gander and goose), four chickens called "the ladies", and 7 ducks. IF anyone will be intimidated, it will be the new cat lol, but we've got plenty of love to go around.
