Related: About this forumThe rescue group which saved my Snowy from a kill shelter in Georgia needs financial support
to keep rescuing!
They are dedicated to rescuing German Shepherds. Even though Snowy was NOT a GSD, they went
from South Carolina (where they are based) to Georgia on the off chance that she might have
some white German Shepherd in her.
They have just put up an appeal on facebook. You can see it here:

If you can spare a few $$ to help them, Snowy and I would appreciate it!

(31,373 posts)would have abandoned her...but they did, when she was a puppy...to a high kill shelter in Georgia.
She was almost 3 when I adopted her. The foster mom had kept her for a while
because her father was living with them and he became attached to her. After
he passed away Snowy went out to a family, but was returned, because she wouldn't/couldn't
learn how to use a doggie door. I had hopes of training her as a therapy dog when I adopted
her, but she turned out to be not very interested in people. She has opened up--likes people
more and asks for petting--over the years, but still not enough to function really well as a therapy
dog. It's a shame, because with all the elder care type places around here, we could have
been quite busy going to visit. She's happy just following me around the house all day (I'm retired).
And she travels really well--goes to the beach with us--and to Charleston when we go to the
Spoleto Festival every year. She even went with me to an outdoor celebration of life
last month in Asheville and sat quietly by my feet for an hour while people were sharing
stories about my friend who had passed away at the age of 59 from pulmonary fibrosis. She's
a wonderful dog.

(19,926 posts)Did the tip of her tail get crushed by that truck that drove over her?
No. Those are the tracks of the early morning beach patrol truck...left long before we were out for our walk.
I didn't realize she'd plopped down right in the middle of the tracks until after I had the photos I'd taken that
morning up on my laptop.
