Looks like I am getting a pregnant female to foster this weekend

From what I hear, she is very pregnant. Should be here on Saturday. So I may be a midwoof this weekend, or next week, I'll have a better idea after she has been to the vet.

2. Selena

She is young, only about 1 year old. They are transporting her up and she is stopping at the vet. She should be here this afternoon.

3. She looks so sweet. She will be probably be grateful for a warm,

safe place to have her babies. Bless you for helping this girl (esp. a black dog.) Is she a lab mix? Are you going to keep them until the pups are weaned? Does she have a story?

4. Not sure of the whole story

The owner surrendered her. They know the daddy is a black lab so my guess is that the owner owned both dogs. He probably wondered why she was getting fat. That last part is just a guess. From what they have told me, she is very pregnant and probably due within a week or so. We'll know more after she goes to the vet this afternoon

5. It just kills me when someone brings a pregnant dog or cat into my (rural,

high kill, Georgia) AC shelter. It's also heartbreaking when a mama dog/cat is surrendered with her babies. Our group of volunteers work our butts off trying to find rescue groups to take these cats/dogs, esp. before they get sick. Rescue groups will usually take the mother and babies, but it is hard finding foster families to take that many, and we are so grateful to find one who is able to take on a whole litter.

6. She is at the vet now

She has 8-9 pups per the x-ray, and she is losing her mucous plug so she will have the pups soon. They said she is very sweet. Should be here soon.

7. Good luck! Hope your foster girl has a super-easy delivery. If

this is her first litter, you might be up all night!! Sounds like you are experienced at this, but hope you have phone numbers handy and friend support on stand-by. Keep us posted. Would love to see baby pix in the a.m. along with the LOL Cats postings.

8. Could be a few days

I have numbers. I've been lucky so far, the litters I have done were born during the day.

I am considering getting Scooter a brother or sister to keep him company when I am at work etc. Everytime I see a cutie like her I think of it more.
