Loyal dog waits outside Sao Paolo hospital every day for dead owner

A heartbroken dog has stolen the hearts of hospital workers in Brazil, arriving outside their workplace every day waiting for his dead owner.

The dog belonged to a homeless man who died shortly after being stabbed in a street fight in the Brazilian city of Novo Horizonte in October last year, The Daily Mail reports.

On the night of the stabbing, the unnamed pooch chased the ambulance carrying his owner through the city streets, eventually arriving at the hospital.

His owner never came out, so the dog waited at the front entrance every day - only leaving to scavenge for food.

3. His owner passed away in 2016 and the doggie is still waiting for him, only leaving to eat.

They tried to rehome him but he escaped from the shelter and found his way back to the hospital.

6. They should have done this differently.

This poor baby should have been shown his dead master's body and then given his clothing to lie on. If a compassionate person wanted to adopt him, they should sit with the dog day after day, talk to him, and feed him. Perhaps even take him back to the streets where he once lived, and maybe even to his deceased owner's grave.

These devoted critters are intelligent, they reason, and they grieve deeply. Not all of them, but I think most have stories to tell if they could talk.
