My dog has laryngitis.

Not kennel cough, laryngitis. I didn't even know this was something dogs could get.

He's had a hoarse, dry cough for about a week. His bark sounds different, which really freaked me out. So I took him in to the vet this morning, and she said its laryngitis. Kind of weird, since he's not really a barker and most of the time it comes from too much barking. He's getting a 2 week course of antibiotics.

If it doesn't resolve, they'll do more tests

I Hope so, though a chest x-ray would rule out pneumonia still_one Nov 2019 #3

He had a chest xray in June and it was clear, plus his lungs sounded ok today. To xray his throat would require sedation, because he's not cooperative. But she suggested 2 weeks on antibiotics should clear it up, and if not they may need to do one after that.

Not sure they'd give it to a doggo though for laryngitis. People need voices to go to work, but dogs don't necessarily need to bark. Hope he feels better soon.
