(34,095 posts)Actually I do not see that in either of them. Elvin, the big one, was a roamer out in the country for a while until they could catch him. He is a big boy but I could not resist that face and the fact that he was just a gallumphing mix of joy and love. They told us they thought he was a mix of Vizsla and Boxer. Our vet thinks he has a lot of pit in him. I do not see the pit but whatever. Vizsla actually fits it in some ways, he has terrible seizures that we have finally gotten under control. He seems to want to point as well. Whatever, he is my big guy who sleeps practically on top of me. Named after Elvin Jones.
The smaller McCoy, named after McCoy Tyner is a boxer mix as well. At least that is what we were told. Someone pulled him as a tiny pup out of a litter, maybe they released all of them and he spent the first 6 months of his life roaming and begging in a small town. He has some issues but is getting better, very head strong but getting more patient. He is adorable and sweet but still mouthy. Boxer mix is all we can tell. He has no ridge and they both bark so.....Whatever they are they are mine for the whole rest of their lives unless I go first. They will be cared for whatever happens.
I am totally smitten with them, they both sleep on or around me and I feel like nothing short of a gun shot would stop them from defending me from anything. Just the best boys and god knows I love them more than anything.
Edit to add, I would take that gun shot to protect them too. These are serious relationships here, lol.
The point is that you and they love each other and that's really what matters. I, obviously, could only see their faces so what do I know, I don't even have dogs. I love them but never had one as a pet, but cats are another story.
My landlady's cat has adopted me and spends more time with me than his mom, but he's mad at her for getting a puppy a few months after her sweet girls (2 very sweet but very old dogs who passed within weeks of each other) passed last summer. They're out in the pasture now, with a few horses and several other dogs and cats, the place has been in the family for over five decades.
I just love all the animals here, she has horses too, so I get my animal kingdom fix every day.

(34,095 posts)They will have nothing but the best I can give them for the rest of their precious lives. They are my heart. I smile whenever I think of them and they have nothing but love and fun and food forever now. I think my husband is jealous and perhaps he should be!
