Today's daycare lol...

I've posted before about the Weimaraner who as of late has a real thing for the ladies. Well he may be fickle, but at least he's practicing "safe sex". Today in his stool we found a condom.

Now normally we let the owners know if we find some foreign objects in their stool, (and yes, we do scope out their poops and even let the owners know if their poops are normal, or too loose, etc.), but today we thought we'd let it pass. We just thought it might be a bit too embarrassing for all involved.

Even though it's embarrassing it could be very dangerous if a dog eats a condom... and for some reason they seem to find them delicious and will dig through the trashcan for them. They need to know they have to discard them somewhere where the dog can't get at them or this will keep happening. I've long been in the habit of keeping the bathroom trashcan on top of the toilet tank so the dog can't help himself to "delicious treats" like used q-tips/band-aids/tampon applicators and everything else gross that gets pitched in the bathroom trashcan.

I remember walking Layla one morning and she was sniffing at something and I looked down and there was a used condom. I gave her a quick "leave it" and fortunately she paid attention, LOL.

That must have been a riot to see that in a poop. Poor dog, probably had no clue why his poop was funny. I can see a Weim doing that though for some reason.

He has some digestive issues that mom and dad have been working on with their vet since he was little. We give them a pretty detailed report whenever he comes to help them figure out what is working well and what not so much. So he's used to us paying a lot of attention to his poop anyway. We always compliment him when he has "perfect piles" and console him when they're real loose. He's such a cool dog, one of my favorite daycare buddies. The owners are super nice people as well and love him to pieces. I just couldn't embarrass them especially since we have never found any foreign objects in his stool before. I know they watch him pretty carefully at home to make sure he doesn't get into anything that would irritate his already compromised digestive system.
