Can your dogs spell?

Obviously they're not really spelling. A spelled out word is just a longer sound they associate with something.

I ask because we all too often find ourselves spelling things since saying it would make them go nuts.

Sparkly: Wanna take the dogs for a walk?

Stinky: Sure, just lemme . . . . . . .

Dogs: woof Woof WOOF run Run RUN wag Wag WAG c'mon C'mon C'MON let's GOGOGO

So we spell.

The Border Collie perks at w-a-l-k. Soon enough, I have no doubt, she'll know the spelling.

Bubba spells about 6-7 words

we figure he has a 'vocabulary' of around 200 words he recognizes and responds to. "Ball" being the main one, 'you're late!!' is another

and for some strange reason a made up word (woof-snorfle) makes him CRAZY!!! Try it on your BC, maybe it's a language only BCs speak?

get the red out

I have started saying "orb". We already can't say ball without Layla perking up and her one up, one half-way up ears becoming alert and her all excited. She is a ball obsessed Border Collie mix.

W-a-l-k is still ok, but it probably not last forever. We really need to start spelling out now also.
