Ghost Cat in My House

I have a big fat Tom(fixed) who likes to stay outside a lot. About two weeks ago my husband opened the door to let big tom in and another cat ran inside with him. He (or She) is mostly hiding out upstairs. I think the cat comes down to the kitchen and laundry room(kit-Lit place) when we are gone and at night when we are in bed. The ghost cat will sometimes show up in the hallway when it hears me opening the cans of cat food. Anyone else have a ghost cat in their house? It won't let me touch it(so far)

1. we actually have a real ghost cat

we can see a shadow of a cat chasing after the others occasionally, we have 3 cats.
also feels like something jumps on the bed when nothings there.
Both my brother and I have seen it.
We think its the ghost of one of 4 former occupants
we have had in the past.

The chasing. I know who it is, though. Also both my brother and I have seen it.

I had three cats cross over last year. Worst year of my life.

In addition to the chasing, they scratch the carpet and I hear munching sounds at the dry food bowl. They visit me in dreams just to hang out and it’s just like when they were “alive.”

2. I ended up with one cat (Casey) who decided to move in and become an indoor/outdoor

cat a few years ago. I also have 2 regular/ 1 semi-regular neighborhood cats that I feed outside. About 3 weeks ago yet another cat started coming around. I was in my home office one day last week and looked down he had come in my open back door and walked through the house like he owned it and was sniffing at my sleeping dog (who slept through it all). He saw me looking at him and left. He entered a second time and was cornered by Casey and left again. Came in and out a third time. The forth time the dog (Chihuahua who thinks one cat indoors is enough) noticed the cat and chased it (not interested in actually catching the cat, just wants it gone). Then this weekend, Casey is sitting in my lap and I look up and the cat had come back yet again and was on the couch. Casey just looked at the cat (apparently not feeling like he wants to be a watch cat).

That cat is ballsy. I need to stop leaving my back door open which sucks because I like leaving it open when the weather is nice.

4. Since it reacts to canned food

Why not put it in a trap and capture it ?

If you don’t want to buy the trap, maybe a friend has one or you can rent one.
