It's been a long time

We have two new members in our family. I will have to relearn how to post pictures and will work on it within the next few days.

We adopted Shadow in October. We have always loved having three dogs and on a whim we went to the Humane Society. I hadn't been thinking about getting another one and went along. He was in the last row and the only dog there. We had to wait for a few days because he wasn't eligible for adoption. We got there early and we were the only ones there. His name was supposed to be Strider. We had Ranger and my nerd came out. Shadow was thought to be about a year old and is a red GSD. We got him home and every where Ranger went Shadow was following hence the name. We were a happy three dog family.

I am beginning to hate February. I lost my beloved Sam two years ago on Feb. 6th and this year Ranger got sick again. We took him to the vet but the cancer was back with a vengeance. We were helpless. On the 25th of February our vet came and he crossed to the Bridge to play with Sam and all of the other four legged family members that went before him. We brought his ashes home. The hole in my heart was/is huge. The last night I slept sitting up on the floor so Ranger could rest his head on my shoulder.

My daughter saw a picture of a GSD puppy. This little one looked like Sam and Sweetie (our now 9 year old baby) had a puppy. We tried to get her but did not win the raffle.

On Thursday I looked to see if another sweet dog had been adopted. I was thrilled to see he had and then I did a double take. I thought they had mistakenly put another picture of Shadow on their site. This little guy was eligible for adoption that day. Sweetie and Shadow were at the groomers but we went anyway. We were the first there and they promised to hold. The other two dogs didn't come home until 3:30. We get there and there were no problems. Boo came home yesterday.I am not sure if Boo will stick but he seems to like it when I call him Baby Boo. He is about a year old and much smaller than Shadow.

I like to think Sam and Ranger are smiling watching down on us. No one could ever take their places but I am glad humans have the capacity to love and treasure many animals. There are way too many pets and the Humane Society and I wish they could all be adopted.

and I am so glad to hear that you have given two dogs a new home. How is Shadow taking the loss of Ranger? It sounds as if he really took to Ranger.

And why was Shadow not eligible for adoption????
