1. Pompeii was on our itinerary for our now canceled trip to Italy last April.

5. I remember vividly the National Geographic issue on excavations in Herculaneum

Amazingly photo-documented as NG always does.

Herculaneum was a smaller sister-city to Pompeii slightly out of the initial direct blast and thus better preserved.
