The change represents a substantial reversal of civil forfeiture reforms aimed at protecting innocent property owners.

As Rep. Filler (R–DeWitt) tells it, Michigan's civil forfeiture reforms, which legislators enacted in 2015, 2017, and 2019 after hearing testimony about greedy cops who indiscriminately stole people's property, invited drug traffickers to carry their ill-gotten gains into and out of Michigan with impunity. "Drug trafficking will not be tolerated in Michigan," Filler says. "The men and women who keep our airports secure need to have the proper authority to keep drugs and drug money out of our state—and this reform gives them the tools they need to get the job done."

I worked in Michigan for 2 years. I have 2 openings currently that are possibilities. I'll be canceling those. For the work in Minnesota, I'll be avoiding any connections in DTW and I plan to write to Delta since they maintain a hub there.

I abhor the entire civil forfeiture theft program at all levels. I think anyone involved with any civil forfeiture thefts not immediately supported by criminal charges and subsequent convictions needs to be fired, stripped of citizenship and deported to Russia where they belong.

What's the dollar amount here? $100, $1,000, $9,999...
If there's a rule here, don't people have a right to know? Is it a secret? Is the amount different if you have a voter registration card listing you as a Democrat? Is there racial equality in this cops are robbers plan?

Is it really true that I can lose $X00 for just using the airport but someone with an AmEx Centurion card that could be used to buy my house would be unaccosted? Really? I infer rich people aren't criminals.
