discussed medical mj with my doc today.

she nodded her head and agreed it would likely help with some sticky issues.
she admitted that the old hippies are coming out of the woodwork. she predicts a huge upswing in chronic back pain.

i get a lot of help from pharma, but....

I will not take anymore opiate pain killers because their efficacy wears off in a week or so and I need more to maintain the pain control. The only other thing my Dr will prescribe are muscle relaxers and valium and I shouldn't take those as often as I do/need.

I'm hoping medical cannabis passes Florida this November and I'm hoping one of my 3-5 Drs will sign my note for a card. Until then, I contemplate criminal activity while I wait.

I understand that they think a bunch of stoners will get hold of weed. Guess what, they already do and the will continue if this passes or fails. Please don't condemn the rest of us to a life of pain and muscle issues just because a few people want a buzz.

Good luck getting what you need Mopinko

she's a real good egg.

i'm doing very well, as i got my sleep straightened out, which just started a whole cascade of good.
trouble is therapeutic quantities are pretty spendy. cant see insurance picking it up.

widespread arthritis, fibromyalgia, completely hosed up nerves in my right arm and hand.
the halt and the lame.

big thing in my mind- sleep troubles have been linked to alzheimers. getting better sleep at 60 gives me a whole lot more hope for the remaining years of my sentence on this rock.

law passed but rules are a long way away.
i never really discussed it with docs unless there was reason to.
one more stupid effect of prohibition.

The bulk of doctors recommending it are so called pot docs.

It's interesting you can go to a pot doc and get your script, they will generally have online verification which the dispensaries can access at any time.

If you got your script from an oncologist, the dispensaries have to get a hold of him or his office to verify your script. For that reason alone "pot doctors" are better than real doctors for getting a prescription.

http://www.green215.com/ is an example.

http://www.green215.com/verify to see what online verification looks like, something most non pot docs lack.

...considering Illinois with its 'Industrial' persona, is most likely "Hazardous To Your Health". I'd do it myself at 67 if I didn't have everything I need EXCEPT permission from the man.

Here in Canada I could 'discuss it with docs' but I'd have to make up some kind ailment that the clueless medical community thinks is treatable with one drug or another. That's hardly an option because it would put me in the position of denying the positive medical effects of almost 50 years of ILLEGAL cannabis use.

I think it's great that the USA is having its consciousness raised and that there are doctors in Canada who will at least listen to the arguments, but for now I'll stick with the illegal. I don't have anybody I need to convince of its value.

Tell your doc to ask me anything.

we'll be full legal before that much longer here.
the complexity of structuring a parallel set of rules when you could just make one simple set of rules is starting to dawn on people.
especially if pat quinn gets re-elected.
