Walmart sets limits on ammunition sales after demand surges

(Reuters) - Walmart has started to limit sales of ammunition to three boxes per customer per day due to limited supplies, a spokeswoman said on Wednesday.

Sales of guns and ammunition have risen across the United States since the December 14 shooting at a Newtown, Connecticut elementary school.

Walmart U.S., is the largest unit of Wal-Mart Stores Inc the world's largest retailer and the largest U.S. gun seller. The Bentonville, Arkansas-based retailer had said that it works to strike the right balance between serving hunters and sportsmen and ensuring that it sells firearms responsibly.

"In order to take care of as many customers as possible, starting Thursday, January 24, all ammunition sales were limited to three boxes per customer, per day as supply is limited at this time," spokeswoman Ashley Hardie told Reuters on Wednesday.

now sell for 98.

A friend of mine sold 2 100 packs of pmags for 4700 bucks each he had 918 in them. He's down to selling them in 2 mag lots for 40 bucks each and charging 10 bucks for shipping making 22 bucks on the lot. He told me tonight he only had enough ammo and mags to last thru Feb before he runs out.

100 rnd beta mags for glocks he had 323 bucks in, he sold 5 for 947 each.

We didn't even get into the AK and AR clones he's sold off.

He told me he knows loads of people holding out for higher prices, who tell him he's crazy for cashing in at these low low panic prices. LOL

The gun grabbers have the gun and ammo manufacturers Laughing all the way to the bank. Talk about unintended consequences! There are now more guns and ammo in private hands in a few weeks than there would have been in three years or more before the grabbers started beating the Bongo drums. Hope you are happy. You MAY get background checks which I totally agree with but you are not going to get a scary rifle ban or a high cap magazine (it's not a clip) ban but you have made absolutly sure that gun sales have gone through the roof to the point where the builders can't produce them fast enough. Good job!

I have all the rifle stuff I need right now, but it would be nice to be able to get some ammo at the old reasonable prices. Just like 2008, powder, primers, dies, anything ammo related is also disappearing.

Sit on BST facebook pages when owners are asking 1500+

I know a guy that picked up two this week at a LGS for 1200. Prices will drop like rocks once people figure out they're not gonna be banned.

Magazines may be another story.
