Illinois State Police data show increase in gun licenses from 1.3M in 2010 to 1.4M in 2011

The number of people licensed to own guns in Illinois increased 6.1 percent last year, according to new figures from state police.

More than 78,000 licenses were issued in 2011 and nearly 1.4 million people had firearms identification cards as of Jan. 1, 2011, compared to more than 1.3 million on Jan. 1, 2010, The Pantagraph in Bloomington reported Wednesday ( http://bit.ly/zY0frH ). Illinois residents must have a card to possess or purchase firearms.

Is that it demolishes the argument by Gun Prohibitionists that new gun purchases and NICS checks are being done by current gun owners just so they can "hoard" guns.
