The massacre of 20 children and six educators took less than 5 minutes according to investigators:
NEWTOWN, Conn. When Adam Lanza walked out of his house for the last time, he left behind firearms and knives and more than 1,600 rounds of ammunition taking only four guns. They would suffice.
He loaded the weapons into his car, drove to Sandy Hook Elementary School, blasted his way into the building and within five minutes fired off 154 shots with a Bushmaster .223-caliber rifle. Having murdered 20 first-graders and six educators, he killed himself with a final, single shot from a Glock handgun. He still had more than 100 rifle bullets at hand.
Warrants released Thursday provide the most insight to date into the world of the 20-year-old gunman, a recluse who played violent video games in a house packed with weaponry that was all too real. The inventory of items taken from the spacious, colonial-style home included books on autism, a vast array of weapon paraphernalia, and images of what appears to be a dead person covered with plastic and blood.
The weapons used in the shooting had all apparently been purchased by Lanza's mother, Nancy, with whom he lived, said prosecutor Stephen J. Sedensky III, in a statement accompanying the warrants.

(21,646 posts)they found in his belongings ...can I say creepy?

(813 posts)Other than a lurid, pulp-fiction-style retelling of the tale, I'm wondering where all this is going and what significance it's supposed to have. NRA certificates. Books on autism, A gun safe. Is there any relevance of all this to the RKBA or is it just purient interest?

(30,439 posts)This new information came out today. I'd say there is relevance to RKBA and I'm sure the host would agree with me.
Don't like it? Too bad.
Try trash thread or ignore if you want to keep your eyes covered.
Cheers!

(813 posts)Well, it might help it you pointed out exactly what you think that connection is, rather than just a hit and run copy-n-paste. And I really don't give a shit if you post here or not, I'm just asking a question about what you have posted.
See the difference?
Cali_Democrat
(30,439 posts)You're also asking a question about what I have posted?
LOL.
Really, you don't have to read my threads if they rub you the wrong way.
Trash thread or ignore will work just fine, trust me. Or perhaps alert and you could try and get the host to lock.
Cheers!

(813 posts)Perhaps you're not used to people questioning you.
The news story you posted isn't about the about the massacre, it's about things like gun safes and NRA certificates. I'm asking you how that relates to the massacre and what is the point you're trying to make? Or is it meant merely to spark purient interest, like what a serial killer's Zodiac sign is. There's no need to be so defensive. No one's persecuting you.
And I don't trash threads, ignore or alert. I always feel shining a light is better.

(813 posts)if you have one.
No need for the passive aggression.
Cali_Democrat
(30,439 posts)I thought I made that clear.
If anyone is exhibiting passive aggression, it's you my dear.

(813 posts)I took the post as having some point in it that you'd like to drive home, but if it's just a lurid crime exposé, that's cool too.
Cali_Democrat
(30,439 posts)it sparked a national gun control debate and it's extremely relevant to this forum.
Oh BTW, I'm so glad it's "cool" with you otherwise I'm not sure what I would do
sylvi
(813 posts)It certainly sparked a lot of demagogic, authoritarian-types to seize an emotion-laden moment for their advantage to try to push their agenda through. They don't seem very interested in debate.
Which in turn sparked the sale of an additional 10,000,000+ weapons, with a backorder log six months long, and a swelling in the ranks of the NRA.
(Dr. Phil]So, how's that workin' out for you?[/Dr. Phil)

(11,996 posts)- To share how women across America need ARs & 30 round mags to protect their screaming babies from bad guys with guns.
- so Wayne can point out how its the mentally ill and video games fault, not gun fuckers having guns
- so Wayne can point out how it is not more regulations which are needed, but more guns in schools.
- to provide yet another 'reason' for selfish gunners to stock up and better surround themselves with loved ones in the aftermath of tragedy.
- so gun nuts can show THEIR emotion by cheering how many new guns have been sold since 20 kids were massacred, get excited over how hard it is to buy more ammo, AND share their swelling with the N R A.
Hmmm..that's nice.
It's working about as well as would be expected actually.

(813 posts)for the "restrict freedom first" school of thought when it comes to fixing societal problems. I guess we've been in that mode since 9/11 and the Patriot Act, Military Commissions Act, and an assortment of other laws pissing all over the Constitution in the name of "safety and security".
Looks like now you're going to have to do the hard work of attacking root causes and changing societal attitudes. That's what real progressivism is.

(11,996 posts)And continued 'debate' in legislatures acoss the country, and ongoing focus on the NRA, and continued coverage from Sandy Hook, and pending bills in Congress, and increase in gun control groups, and Biden and the President's attention, and lots of discussions on the internet, and videos blasting gun nuts, and pieces on news programs and in newpapers, nothing new here.
Surely control groups are disappointed not more has been accomplished...yet. Maybe next time, huh? Or the time after that? Or the one after that? Or the one that will follow?
So till then, You can get get back to sharing your delight with your loved ones unimpeded,...just make sure they're unloaded first!
Or maybe you'll just sell another 10,000,000 guns, and another 10,000,000 after that, and another 10,000,000 after that, lather, rinse, repeat as you chase your rainbow out of refusal to face reality. What a price to pay for a little hubris, when there's so much more you could do that doesn't shred the Constitution.
jmg257
(11,996 posts)Response, and the one that followed.
I understand the fear and selfishness of so many gun owners.
I understand the gun freaks who rush out to buy ever more guns. I understand their perceived needs and 'justifiable' excuses. I understand the slippery slope notions and cold dead hands memes and 'be prepared' rationals, the wilingness of 'law abiding' gun owners to be not so lawful when it suits them. I understand the terrible sacrifices and horrid infringements gun owners have suffered already... and those yet to come. I understand heir boycotts and lawuits and never-ending parroting of RW and NRA bullet points.
As stated previously, this is all nothing new.
And yet, things ARE changing, not everywhere of course, not alot, or as much as many wanted, but a bit. A bit more then ladt time, and more then has been in a long while. Push back of course. Still-It has started. And it will continue again, when the next lawful gun fucker decides not to be and kills a bunch of people.
Certainly no rainbows involved, simply just a Matter of time.

(12,194 posts)When an event triggers actions, 98 percent of which are an attempt to pass the same things they have for over a decade, and 2 percent trying to pass things which might actually prevent an event like sandy hook...
How would you characterize it?
