Gun Control & RKBA
Related: About this forumPolice: Armed customer ends robbery attempt - Wisconsin
From today's Chicago Tribune.
I'm confused, I was assured that someone would just take his gun and use it against him? Or he'd shoot other civilians? But taking on a robber with a scattergun out and ready to shoot with a concealed handgun takes some serious concentration.
Here's to you unnamed Wisconsin citizen.
Police: Armed customer ends robbery attempt
Milwaukee police say an armed robbery attempt at a grocery store ended when a customer opened fire.
A man armed with a shotgun entered an Aldi store in the north side of the city about 7 p.m. Monday and tried to rob the store, authorities say.
A customer pulled out a gun and fired at the suspect, who fled without any cash or merchandise. None of the employees or customers were injured.
Police say they're investigating whether a 20-year-old man who arrived at a local hospital with a gunshot wound is connected to the robbery attempt.

I know this 'cause People For Safety Against UnSafe-Not-Police-Guns tell us so all the time!

(6,185 posts)We've had a major shift with several Chicago/Cook County representatives that voted against it last session, announcing they are "reconsidering" their vote this time around.
The combination of Daley leaving, the big ass $$$ legal bill Chicago and Oak Park got for losing McDonald and most importantly multiple meetings with their constituents who surprised them by supporting and asking for CCW has made a big difference.
We only need 6 more votes to get shall issue CCW, preemption and to over ride any veto by Quinn. The word is we have 3 so far.
On the other hand ... this ran in the same edition that they ran that ridiculous Op Ed by Leonard Pitts in, so they aren't changing their stripes.

Once the man tried to rob the store, the owner pulled out a gun and shot the suspect. The suspect ran out of the store and was picked up by his girlfriend, who then took him to a local hospital, Holmes said.
Yet another "impossible" case of a person lawfully carrying a weapon who used it to prevent a crime.
Imagine the odds he had to overcome, since he's 34x more likely to have injured himself with his own gun than to have used it to defend against a crime! ( )

(6,185 posts)Apparently there were 2 robbers involved, (or local youths turning their lives around), the one with the shotgun took a couple of rounds from the CCW permit holder, a 35 year old male who just got his CCW permit last week. The store also had 2 unarmed security guards (oxymoron?) as well who did nothing.
There's a local news report video available here:
