Bloomberg drums up support for Ohio Republican Senator.
A small group of people who want stricter gun legislation and increased background checks were greatly outnumbered by an opposing group.
There were five people on one side, and at least ten times that number on the other. The groups debated the gun issue Friday at McFerson Commons Park, a grassy area south of the arch in the Arena District. .....
..... The smaller group, Mayor's Against Illegal Guns, originally started by New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, came to Columbus to protest Portman, who voted in April against increased background checks.
The larger group came to support him, and it became a protest of a protest.

(594 posts)The protests for stricter gun control were far larger. Even still, the pro 2nd Amendment counter protesters at the time still vastly outnumbered anything Bloomberg et al. could drum up.
The difference is, this time the local media here picked up on that fact. In the spring, their reporting mostly ignored the fact that concurring pro 2nd Amendment rallies, which were much bigger, even existed.

When MAIG came to Minnesota, pro RKBA people ignored them and about 15 people showed up in support. The media didn't give the appearance much time or space either.
