Feeling unsafe? Gun-rights group offers Orlando residents free shotguns

Last edited Tue Sep 24, 2013, 09:48 PM - Edit history (1)

An armed citizenry is the answer to the crime problem — at least that's the view of a new gun-rights group offering free shotguns and ammunition to residents in one Orlando neighborhood.

The Armed Citizen Project of Florida — an offshoot of a Texas group whose website tagline is "Deterring Crime by Empowering Neighborhoods" — left leaflets on doorsteps throughout the Sunshine Gardens neighborhood Sunday seeking "volunteers to reduce crime in your neighborhood."

The neighborhood is not known as a high-crime area.

"That's what really cracked me up," said seven-year resident Cathy Rodgers. "I've never felt unsafe in my neighborhood. I just feel like they're preying on people's fears."

Has anybody hear anything about the group in Houston? How has that worked so far?

Nice to see their fine work expanding, and hopefully it will continue to expand. Every family should have at least one home defense safety device. Good news is these are recommended by our Vice President so there's a progressive endorsement that can't be argued with.
