U.S. House approves extension of gun screening law

http://www.cnn.com/2013/12/03/politics/congress-plastic-guns/index.html?hpt=hp_bn3

(CNN) -- The U.S. House on Tuesday approved a 10-year extension of a federal law requiring that all guns be detectable by metal screening machines.

But partisan wrangling could still mean the Undetectable Firearms Act, approved 25 years ago, will expire next Monday.

The law prohibits guns that don't contain enough metal to trigger screening machines commonly found in airports, courthouses and other secure areas accessible to the public.

...

A one-sentence bill by Rep. Howard Coble, R-North Carolina, was approved easily by House lawmakers and sent to the Senate.

That tells me the law was simply renewed, another story says it was renewed for a decade, as is with no modifications.

Of course, the banners want to take the existing law and add new restrictions, couched in the language of safety I sure, but with the effect of banning a broad range of existing firearms.

Let's find out what changes Schumer wants to implement, and what the real effects of those changes would be, before we make any additional changes to the law.

...what generally serves to inspire our various politicians and congresspersons.

'If you don't hold us accountable, we'll do some real bad things in Washington, D.C.'

'Refudiate,' 'misunderestimate,' 'wee-wee'd up.' English is a living language. Shakespeare liked to coin new words too. Got to celebrate it!'

WarGames, the Matthew Broderick movie. Read it and weep:

Rep. Dan Glickman, a Kansas Democrat, opened the proceedings by saying: "We're gonna show about four minutes from the movie 'WarGames,' which I think outlines the problem fairly clearly." A House committee report solemnly intoned: "'WarGames' showed a realistic representation of the automatic dialing and access capabilities of the personal computer."

Yes, Congress's fear of Ferris Bueller hacking into NORAD resulted in the US's primary anti-hacking law.

because many Party members don't want to deal with another gun control issue. I can't link with my hand-held.

This renewal vote may be the only time you will see Bill Nelson (D-FL) supporting "gun control" legislation!
