I especially liked the ones where they break their own nose with the recoil, and the one where the man hands his gun to a little boy who then shoots him in the stomach.

(17,671 posts)Some are hilarious. The ones when people get hurt, not so much. Expressing joy in the pain of others, especially when they are seriously hurt is a pretty shitty attitude to take.
But the sound track was fun.

(10,164 posts)You're not referring to paramilitary semi-automatic rifles like AR-15s, are you? Those have extremely light recoil (they're gas-operated and fire a rather small, light bullet, both of which reduce recoil). They don't kick much harder than a .22.

(994 posts)I wouldn't call those "fails" or accidents. Pretty much anybody would drop the thing, including you. In fact, I'd pay good money to see you try to shoot it. Now that would be funny, especially if you shot yourself! The guy at 8:10 makes it look easy though.

(24,362 posts)At Sun Dec 15, 2013, 08:24 PM an alert was sent on the following post:
The Best Gun Fail Accidents - video
http://www.democraticunderground.com/1172134381
REASON FOR ALERT:
This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.
ALERTER'S COMMENTS:
Video (around 5:00) shows somebody seriously injured. That's borderline shock content and if so a TOS violation. Expressing joy at the injury of others is over the top.
You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Sun Dec 15, 2013, 08:35 PM, and the Jury voted 1-5 to LEAVE IT.
Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: No explanation given
Juror #2 voted to HIDE IT and said: I'm no fan of gun nuts, but making fun of people injured in accidents is a pretty shitty thing to do. HIDE this.
Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: No explanation given
Juror #4 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: No explanation given
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: No explanation given
Juror #6 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: No explanation given
Thank you very much for participating in our Jury system, and we hope you will be able to participate again in the future.

(994 posts)in which he'd like to see it happen. Jury voted 6-0 to leave it alone so I guess stuff like that is OK.
A HERETIC I AM
(24,362 posts)because ...well...for one, I rarely comment when I'm on a jury because there is a tendency among certain alerters to complain when a comment is made they don't like on a jury decision they don't like.
It would have been different if, for example, the OP had made the video himself and done so with the intent of shocking. I know he didn't, but if he had, I might have felt a little differently. But the fact is, posting a video on this board DOES NOT REQUIRE the viewer to click the play button.
Alerting on something that one has to essentially go out of their way to see and then be offended is, in my opinion, ridiculous.
Regular posters here will know that I rarely, if ever post in this forum. I am a gun owner myself but posting about the subject just doesn't interest me. I own a car too, but I don't post in that relevant forum either.
Having said that, the shit fights that happen over this subject are tedious to me, but I don't begrudge anyone having a discussion on a subject they are passionate about or enjoy. It's none of my damned business.
I find videos like the one in the OP funny, because I have shot high powered rifles and pistols in the past and to see people do stupid stuff when handling them makes me shake my head.
The fact that it was alerted on makes me shake my head as well.
Edit; I got off in my rant and didn't address what you wrote! What happened to you was disgraceful, frankly. But, that is the jury system, for all its flaws and attributes. I'm betting that another jury, 10 seconds later would have voted differently.
Skeeter Barnes
(994 posts)And I didn't alert on this, BTW. I never alert on stuff whether I disagree with it or not. Just a few times shortly after I joined here when people here were really hateful to me and it was unprovoked.
A HERETIC I AM

I admit that I am skeptical of new members myself, but I try as hard as I can to give the benefit of the doubt.
Hang in there. If you are truly a progressive thinker, this board can be fun.
It can also be tiresome, infuriating, aggravating, boring and laugh out loud funny.
All of the above are entertaining, regardless!

(18,318 posts)As if the raw hatred was not enough, someone wanted the death penalty for gun law violators. There is a point where hyperbole bleeds over into other topics and degrades the whole site.

(18,483 posts)for injury by deliberately being unsafe, I have no sympathy.
I view having 'fun' by letting a novice shoot something they are unprepared for to be criminal.
IIRC the man shot by the boy later died of the injury. funny

(18,483 posts)shouldn't be a surprise since we have seen posts celebrating that one "gun nutter" is dead now and a suggestion that all gun owners be executed- which is defended by other posters.
Death penalty for people who have committed no crime but are "potential murders". I am on DEMOCRATIC underground am I not?

Banning guns will.
Especially if we have the death penalty for gun possession. It's SOOOO tempting now.

(13,869 posts)It being entirely his own fault, and nobody else got hurt, is what makes it funny. I suppose schadenfreude has something to do with it. The clips where innocents become involved because of some other idiot behind the wheel, not so funny.
This just shows that there are people out there who drive that shouldn't be driving. Just like there are people out there who own guns that, in an ideal world, wouldn't have access to them.
I didn't watch the whole thing, but is the entire video Russian?
Common Sense Party
(14,139 posts)because just about everyone in Russia has a dashboard cam, because drivers are often awful there. I thin insurance companies encourage people to have them, to prove who is at fault.
