"More than 13,000 (Illinois) concealed carry applications get early OK"

"The Illinois State Police said Tuesday that it had completed the initial approval of more than 13,000 concealed carry applications, moving residents a step closer to being able to carry loaded firearms in public.

Meanwhile, applications continued to pour in via the State Police’s online registration site. The State Police received 1,089 applications Tuesday, for a total of 15,539. Police officials said 1,749 applications were approved Tuesday, for a total of 13,064. Those applications must now be reviewed by local sheriff’s departments, state’s attorneys, local police and the attorney general’s office, all of which have the power to object to a permit being issued. They have 30 days to complete the process.

On Sunday, the first day most people could apply electronically, 4,525 applications were filed. The bulk of the applications reviewed, nearly 7,000, were from people who were allowed to apply in advance during mid-December. They include firearms instructors and applicants who submitted electronic fingerprints along with their applications.

Currently, the state only accepts applications filed online through the State Police website. The agency will start accepting paper applications on July 1."

Pretty good running start for the last state to allow it. But these are all only initial approvals, e.g. they have passed the Background Check and met the requirements for training etc. Now the local CLEO will check them all for possible objections based on any local knowledge or records that might have missed the NICS and State Police data base.

are they going to be able to subvert the process and deny those citizens to CCW?
I've read where the ISP has already slapped down the Cook County Sheriff's attempt to cast a blanket objection on citizens living in his jurisdiction.

the Illinois State Police slapped him down; he made a second effort and the ISP slapped him down advising that all objections had to be filed on a case-by-case basis.

I think that both the ISP, and the federal courts (at least based upon the last two rulings) are getting sick and tired of Chicago and Cook County dragging their heels and they're about to bring the pimp hand down.

and, I don't see the state or federal courts siding with Cook County or Chicago.
ISP is telling Tom Dart to fuck off and deal with it.

It's easy for anyone to see how gun owners are on the run now. After all, the magical 90% of all Americans agree with more gun control (but never seem to show up at election time) are all the support they need. Well, that and Bloomberg's checks, so they don't ever have to put any of their own real "skin in the game".

Concealed Carry in Illinois doesn't count, two more states going Constitutional carry don't count, the ongoing drop in violent crime doesn't count, the record number of gun sales and new gun owners don't count, the 2 Colorado Dems that were recalled from office and the 3rd that resigned to save the Colorado Senate for us don't count, even Governor Hickenlooper in Colorado backing down on his new laws don't count.

Apparently the only thing that counts is our resident gun control "fans" announcing the tide has turned ... repeatedly.

On the other hand they have reached a milestone of sorts, being what I think is the 50th poster in a decade on DU that has told us emphatically that the NRA and all the other "gun humper" organizations are all dead politically ... again .... and again.
