(26,595 posts)When you first saw it, it seems that it made some sense to you. Rather than trash and dismiss it entirely on the basis of which 'side' came up with it, why not think about the ways in which, and the degree to which, the sentiment does - and does not - make sense?
Also, now that you're here, maybe you can explain your beef with the NBA...

Now my question is how did you misread it?
More importantly, how is it not a fair analogy?
It's a valid counter to the idea that guns kill people, and the extension of blaming guns is that people are less to blame, when in fact if we would treat the People part of the problem along with requiring people to be trained and to store guns safely, we might actually get somewhere.
The gun control extremists want to create a society that lives in perpetual fear of the gun, to the extent that they aren't even thinking straight, never mind giving any consideration to the purposes of the second amendment.
They cite invalid studies and misrepresent data and push for laws that don't help, like the badly written assault weapons ban, while ignoring real data like the drop in violent crime over the past 20 years.
Thanks for posting over here, in any event.
We won't ban you or anyone just for expressing an opinion.
It's quite different from the other group.
