Gun Control & RKBA
Related: About this forumSmith & Wesson sales jump 7%; shares surge
Gun sales surged following a series of shootings, especially in Newtown, Conn., in December 2012, as people feared President Obama would successfully pass restrictive gun legislation.
But Obama failed to get a gun bill through Congress, and FBI data shows that this year's sales have fallen from their peak. The CEO of rival gunmaker Sturm Ruger (RGR) recently warned that sales are coming down to more "realistic" levels in 2014.

Happy to see that in related news, the state of New Jersey is doing what they can to help increase gun sales once again.

(13,218 posts)the target population would kill each other off.
1) They have a loooooooong wait because the population sure seems to be taking its sweet time.
2) You comment is at odds with observed history.

(19,497 posts)But I'm curious as to which oligarch/dictator can be shown to encourage private gun ownership so as to kill off unwanted populations. Heck, I'd be amazed to see an oligarchy/dictatorship wanting to kill off their own subjects rather than enslave them to the elites' designs.
Add to that my desire to see an instance of an armed populace accommodating such a design with any sort of alacrity.

(312 posts)Where do you think we are in the world in the rating of violent crime?
What is the trend, up or down, in the last few years of vastly increased gun sales.
Show me the facts, provable, truthful, un manipulated statistics.
I have them all if you would like to see them.
In other words we are not like Venezuela in the % of murders or homicides. What do you think their guns laws are like? Do you think it is working there?

(17,502 posts)the increased gun sales made it possible for Wyoming to reduce deer v car crashes by 80 percent. How? The revenues from the 11 percent tax on guns and ammunition (especially lately given the windfall) allowed the state to repair game fences along highways and build overpasses for the deer and proghorn to migrate without going out on the roads. BTW, that same money is used for wolf reintroduction.
FWIW, the Wiki article has one thing wrong. PR didn't create the tax. The tax was imposed in 1919 as sort of a sin tax that went into the general fund. All PR did was earmark the money for environmental projects.

(16,038 posts)The newer ones don't have the same tight fit or quality of finish, imo..
Also really like the model 39 semi.
pipoman
(16,038 posts)But it is silly to make believe revolver and light semi auto handgun sales are attributable to this. ...more likely the expansion of concealed carry fueled more sales than this. .

(312 posts)A pair of springfield armories XD 45 subcompacts that will replace my XD .40 subs. The new powder river triggers came in today and the night sights will be here tomorrow. I've already done the smooth and tune on them and extra magazines are on my gun bench. By tomorrow night they will be fully customized so I can put them on my permits next week.
The .40's will go to my wife and daughter and on their permits.
