Davis was part of a delegation of high-profile activists, including Sybrina Fulton, the mother of Trayvon Martin, who argued that the laws are not only flawed but also rife with racism.
Stand Your Ground all over this country is trumping the rights of human rights, Davis testified before the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights.
IACHR, the Washington D.C.-based commission, is charged with examining allegations of human rights abuses committed by members of the Organization of American States, which includes the United States.

(2,375 posts)On Facebook quite a while back an acquaintance commented that gun owners' heads would explode upon approaching a particular terminal after a flight to Japan. There's apparently very conspicuous signage to the effect that 'Japan is enlightened' (or not uncivilized) by virtue of its gun ban.
I reminded him that Japan has double the suicide rate as the U.S. without those evil guns, and that they might want to clean up their own messes prior to reminding U.S. citizens about theirs.
I also informed him that if he thought a gun owner would do anything but chuckle and feel gratitude for the rights he enjoys in the U.S.A. after viewing said signage that he was excruciatingly naive about the mindset of gun owners in our country.
