Gun Culture 'Way out of Balance'

Hillary Rodham Clinton said Tuesday the nation's gun culture has gotten "way out of balance" and the U.S. needs to rein in the notion that "anybody can have a gun, anywhere, anytime."

The former secretary of state and potential 2016 Democratic presidential candidate said the idea that anyone can have a gun is not in the "best interest of the vast majority of people." But she said that approach does not conflict with the rights of people to own firearms.

Clinton waded into the polarizing issue of gun politics during an appearance at the National Council for Behavioral Health conference in Oxon Hill, Maryland, pointing to recent shootings that involved teens who had been playing loud music and chewing gum and a separate incident involving the typing of text messages in a movie theater.

"I think again we're way out of balance. I think that we've got to rein in what has become an almost article of faith that anybody can have a gun anywhere, anytime," Clinton said. "And I don't believe that is in the best interest of the vast majority of people. And I think you can say that and still support the right of people to own guns."

I suspect she is trying to find out the minimum she can say to placate the gun control fringe while not damaging her chances to be elected.

Somenone states "something MUST be done", but when pressed for specifics decline to offer anything other than generalities. Early in the campaign season; would be interesting to see if any specific proposals come up.

but it sounds like she may be referring to the SYG insanity.

At least she not afraid to mention the subject.

more to the point, it is a state issue so there is nothing she can do about it.

The biggest problem with SYG is the media's inability to accurately and honestly describe what it is and how applies. The only thing she could do as president is ask someone to introduce a duty to retreat statute that apply to federal reservations, which are common law SYG since at least the 1890s.

U.S. needs to rein in the notion that "anybody can have a gun, anywhere, anytime."

Nobody ever wants this and she knows it. There are many restrictions in firearms ownership and who is calling for that to be changed.

So what do you think of your latest drive by cut and paste Google search?

As I've been saying, it's about culture war. Despite the wide-eyed protestations of innocence of some.

First time I read that little gem, I rolled my eyes so hard I got dizzy. Just what we need: another prominent politician willing to blurt out idiotic, false-to-fact bullshit in order to pander to an ignorant, emotionally-driven constituency.
