The NSA and civilian gun-owners. Some musings.

Clearly, the NSA has the rather common splitter in every advertising "spirit catcher" on social media and in the innertubes. And clearly, they have a pretty fool-proof list of gun-owners and some creative algorithms to rationalize or realize gun-owner profiles. The question I would have for Mr. Snowden:

Why the government has this data, and is it organized to serve future planning, and/or to be utilized when crisis management warrants?

Strange how yesterday's paranoia becomes today's tedious detail.

or subscribing to gun magazines and posting pro-gun posts on the internet.

There are many ways to detect that a person is a gun owner if you have the resources of the NSA. I'm sure they already have a very accurate list of gun owners in our nation or could come up with one quickly.

Of course that doesn't mean the government will be raiding neighborhoods and confiscating firearms anytime soon. That would set off a backlash that might include an armed uprising and the secession of some states from the union. The government MIGHT prevail in the end but the cost to our nation would be so high that it wouldn't be worth the effort.
