Prominent gun lobbyist Larry Pratt is doubling down on his insistence that members of Congress should have a healthy fear of being shot, lecturing a congresswoman who felt threatened by one of his groups members that she just doesnt understand the Constitution.
Right Wing Watch first reported Pratts comments in a March interview with radio host Bill Cunningham. Pratt, the executive director of Gun Owners of America, told Cunningham that a member of his group had spoken to a congresswoman who told him, you want to shoot me, dont you.
Well, thats probably a healthy fear for them to have, Pratt said. You know, Im kind of glad thats in the back of their minds. Hopefully theyll behave.

Another moronic gun nut, fueled by hate and fear, and scaring others into believing that everybody needs guns, regardless of mental state.

(18,318 posts)If you are going to single out some implied physical threat by an individual, at least get the organization correct; all that "right wing watching" should be based on some semblance of accuracy. I mean, you have to keep the object of your deep-seated hatreds ("ammosexual" accurately identified. Otherwise, some folks might get the idea that you think all gun-owners look the same, and should be treated the same .

(3,596 posts)Last time I checked a threat of injury or death to anyone was a crime. There are specific heightened charges that can be brought for threatening the life of elected officials such as Congressmen and Senators and other government officials such as members of the Executive Branch and Judges.
I see his statement as a threat and suggests that he condones the threat of violence to get his way.
This is what we must root out in this country. We cannot have vigilantes controlling our ordered society. These people must be tried, convicted and locked up for good with no possibility of parole. I realize that this will only drive the rest of the gun nuts crazier but something has to be done.

(11,238 posts)Oh I see. I've stumbled into the Gun group. At first I wondered why you would be doubtful of what somebody meant even when their words are pretty clear (to an outsider). You all are at each other's throats ready to pounce. Sorry I interrupted. Carry on.

I guess we should lock this guy away --
