The guy that shot his daughter and crashed his car taking her to hospital is a

Virginia sheriff's deputy.

Souinds like anothe law enforcement officer who is trained to kill and was probably hoping that he would be able to do just that.

Or maybe he didn't know better than to shoot blindly at a noise.

The information is found here:

A Virginia sheriff's deputy mistook his 16-year-old daughter for an intruder early Tuesday and shot her as she sneaked back into their home, authorities say.

I swear we just saw this with another guy and his kid sneaking back in after dark a few months back. At least this time the kid survived the parent's paranoia.

If you read the article you linked, they say it happened 'Tuesday night' and don't say 'months ago'. This one is new. Plus, the prior one to which I referred happened in Colorado or Wyoming, I think it was.

As one of our regular family gun fun members likes to say "Practice, practice, practice!" And once you've learned how to hit that center mass, then you can learn how to drive. Glad to hear she's going to survive and daddy didn't go for the old "double tap".

At least you had enough decency to express a smidgen of concern for the victim at the
end of that. Anyway, thanks for stepping up to help keep the cultural bigotry going-
it keeps you lot occupied and distracts nicely from doing anything effective...

Sounds like you're projecting a little there. Maybe it's you who wants to help keep the cultural bigotry going by accusing me of hating people I have no issue with.

My issue is with idiots who shoot at noises in the dark. YMMV
My issue is with idiots of all kinds, like those who call their guns PSD's and carry them everywhere and tell their kids it's progressive to do that and makes the world a safer place. Not gun owners, who are mostly responsible and keep their guns safely locked up.

In blunt terms, you offer up minor league sophistry after we've seen the New-York-Yankees
-in-a-good-year variety offered up by others.

It comes across as no way different from those who want to 'cure' lesbians
and gays, or the anti-abortion "safety" advocates who were slapped down hard
by Judge Myron Thompson-

An attempt to soft-sell cultural warfare in a slighly more palatable manner than
the sort offered up by the Westboro Baptist Church or old-school Ian Paisley...

This has nothing to do with what I like or don't like. You presume too much.
Obviously, you don't agree with my take on those who shoot at noises in the dark and what they teach their kids.

That you would compare my commentary on people who use their guns idiotically with "curing lesbians", the NY Yankees, Westboro Baptist Church, and Ian Paisley only serves to bewilder.

And you talk about "minor league sophistry".

I do not attempt to palm off my prejudices as natural law, or fancy my posts
to be something on the order of:

evinced to date...

Especially important inside and around your own property at night.

When your life is on the line always remember someone else's is also. It may be a scumbag pillhead, or it could be a member of your own family. Safety first, and remember practice the way you'd respond.

It's very important to train with the family for such situations, safety and security should involve everyone. A good house dog is also a great addition to the security team.

I was always surprised at my deptuy BIL because he always put his duty belt on the fridge when the kids were young.
