Gun Control & RKBA

Since it appears to be the order of the day, I think its a good topic to discuss.
IMO, it is an example of "gun politics" on a locale scale. My question is this where do the following fit in this discussion:
Leeland Yee, the gun control politician caught trafficking guns
Barbara Lipscomb, the million mom marcher who shot and paralyzed unarmed black man kikko smith
Hector "Big Weasel" Marroquin , The founder of an anti-gang group called No Guns, arrested for felony firearm possession
David Gregory, who flouted the magazine law in DC on camera, and was never charged
Annette Stevens president of Springfield, Illinois chapter of the Million Mom March, arrested for possession of an illegal gun that had its serial number ground off, and drugs. She plead guilty on the drug charges in exchange for dropping the gun charges
And (very) numerous convicted criminal "mayors against illegal guns"
Do they get to be a part of the discussion too, or are such things applicable only when the club can be used to beat gun rights supporters with?

(8,614 posts)Too bad you have to destroy it.
That way it lessens gun ownership.
And to you, that is only right and moral.

(8,614 posts)So you admit that you will sell your convictions for money.
And you call yourself a "progressive".

Really has a nostalgic feel and the view is like Kaanapali.

(12,778 posts)I mean, come on now, these people are special. They are the ones trying to give us poor little people gun control.

(10,136 posts)If you want to start a discussion on any of your example gun crime stories, feel free to do so.
The key part would be to actually start a discussion. Drive-by postings of "news" are frowned upon as we can get the news anywhere.

(18,318 posts)with an aim to associating gun-owners with the tragic consequences of those shootings has become sturm und drang with controller/banners. The OP seems tired of this low-rent crap, and is merely pointing out that those who publicly decry gun violence sometimes engage in it themselves in spectacularly hypocritical and bloody fashion. Hence, the controller outlook is morally underminded, rather starkly considering its elitistism.

(18,318 posts)is no worse, better, or socially more meaningful than a Million Mom, armed all along, opening up on someone in the name of revenge. One fulfills a stereotype; the other creates one.

(774 posts)Rowan gained public notoriety on June 14, 1988, when he shot an unarmed teenage trespasser, Neil Smith, who was on his property illegally. "The interloper was a near-naked teenager who had been skinny-dipping with friends in Rowan's pool, and the columnist's weapon was an unregistered, and thus illegal, .22 caliber pistol."[5]
From People Magazine: "When Rowan heard the police arrive, he stepped outside to let them in. It was then, he says, that he was confronted by "a tall man who was smoking something that I absolutely was sure was marijuana." Rowan says he repeatedly warned the intruder that he was armed and would shoot. "My first words were: 'Freeze! Stay where you are!' " says Rowan. "Then I said, 'I have a gun.' " Rowan says the man kept coming and that he finally felt forced to shoot in self-defense. He says he aimed at the intruder's feet but hit him in the wrist when the man lunged forward.
