You have to love Wayne LaPierre today.....

And some still claim the NRA is not a political organization, but really just promotes gun rights. LOL.

Wayne LaPierre’s grotesque warning: Hillary Clinton ‘will bring a permanent darkness of deceit and despair’

National Rifle Association (NRA) executive vice president Wayne LaPierre railed against the possibility of Hillary Clinton becoming president during his remarks at the group’s annual leadership forum in Nashville on Friday, Right Wing Watch reported.

“She will not bring a new dawn of promise and new opportunity,” LaPierre argued. “Hillary Rodham Clinton will bring a permanent darkness of deceit and despair, forced upon the American people to endure.”

The former secretary of state is expected to formally announce her entry into the presidential race on Sunday, but LaPierre argued that she was unfit for office because she was tainted by controversy.

“‘Whitewater-gate,’ ‘Cattle-gate,’ ‘Jenifer Flowers-gate,’ ‘Nanny-gate,’ ‘Lincoln bedroom-gate,’ ‘Travel-gate,’ ‘Trooper-gate,’ ‘File-gate,’ ‘Paula Jones-gate,’ ‘Vince Foster-gate’, ‘Helicopter-gate,’ ‘White House Coffee-gate,’ ‘Web Hubbell Hush Money-gate,’ ‘Pardon-gate,’ ‘Illegal Gift-Gate,’ ‘Monica-gate,’ ‘Benghazi-gate,’ ‘Email-gate,’ ‘Wiped Server-gate,’” he said. “Hillary Clinton has more ‘gates’ than a South Texas cattle ranch, and Americans know it.”

LaPierre also played up the fact that the NRA event had drawn several possible Republican contenders, saying the upcoming primary season would ensure that the GOP would field its best candidate.

“I vow on this day the NRA will stand shoulder to shoulder with you and good, honest decent Americans and we will stand and fight with everything we’ve got,” he argued. “And in 2016, by God, we will elect the next great president of the United States of America and it will not be Hillary Rodham Clinton.”

is in direct opposition to its goals? They do support individual Democratic candidates, but generally they are the exception.

NRA = negoiate rights away. As a group they have a horrible track record on protecting firearm freedom.

As progressives we need to champion basic human rights and not let the NRA and GOP continue to dominate this most valuable basic civil right.

you would think that every gun in America would disappear as soon as the NRA was out of the picture judging by the vitriol aimed at them.

"NRA talking points" has become a moral club to end meaningful discussion on gun control. It has reduced the conversation to an infantile binary shit flinging contest.

There's something odd about the fact that every year, after we are accused of being NRA shill most of the year, the gun control crowd are the ones that come out and give us ever detail of the NRA meeting, total attendance, who made a speech, details of every speech, where the meetings are being held.

Since we have been assured they are "old and dying off", they have "no real political muscle to sway an election" etc. etc., why the obsessive level of concern over what they do or say?

But reading the control minded folks posts is almost like being there.

The fact that there isn't such a thing tells me that the controllers' obsession with
the NRA convention is actually a backhanded compliment...

It's really ironic that they all pay far more attention to the NRA than gun owners here do.

Fer Cripe's sake! They even know the speakers agenda and come back here with quotes and then accuse us of being NRA shills.

I confess I wish the control folks would write more about the new stuff, instead of quoting big chunks of speeches they seem to detest but can't stay away from. But most of the really new stuff came out at the SHOT show back in January anyway.

Besides, I'm more of a "Used Gun Guy", stalking the LGS in my areas to see what's interesting that I can find cheap and fix.

An older (18 round tube) Marlin Model 60 for a grand daughter for $25 with a broken Spring (Marlin fixed and shipped it back for another $25!). Three Remington Nylon 66's.

More fun (at least for me) than an expensive new Sig or high end Kimber that costs a house payment.

It provides emotional security to know your enemy, even just to know you have an enemy.

From there, it's just simpler to decide that anyone with whom you disagree on a key issue IS your enemy.

Well, the current thought among the pundit class is that he is a paid member of Gun Owners Of America and being part of another fund raising gun group trumps all votes for gun rights.

It's not about gun rights, it's about $$$.

If the shoe don't fit don't wear it!

You know, as do I, that some people need a little help being self assured. That doesn't mean we need to wear their shirt. Just laugh at them like the rest of us.
