Gun Control & RKBA
Related: About this forumI guess the law doesn't apply in DC, when you think you can tell a judge to basically F' off
In an update to the DC concealed carry story, Judge Scullin announced Friday morning that he was denying D.C.s request for an immediate administrative stay of his May 18 decision. The arguments DC is using are pretty much the same ones they used in Heller and that was such a "winner" for them.
Judge Scullin will hear DC arguments on July 7, as to whether he will suspend his May 18 order while the District pursues an appeal. Meanwhile, the plaintiffs in the case are asking the court to find the District in contempt after learning that D.C. officials intend to withhold permits for 90 days, supposedly to review Judge Scullins May 18 order.
I don't think that the loser gets to decide when it's convenient for them or when the "feel like it" to obey a court order.
So it seems DC has volunteered to buy Alan Gura's new yacht and maybe another summer house in the Hamptons or in Aruba, next to his two Chicago homes.. Not to mention the suits that will follow for every applicant being stalled.
Oh wait. We've been informed that Mr. Gura is "stupid", by someone here that can't punctuate a post on a DU thread without a basket of superfluous commas or write a run-on response less than 5 pages to a yes or no question. I'm Gura will lose on this one too.

And I know exactly who you're referring to, but it's considered a call out for naming the person so, I'll just leave it at that.

(6,185 posts)Maybe $1,000 a day per plaintiff for her as CLEO, the Mayor and each council person who voted for the May Issue law would be about right?
Might make them a little more "aware" of the court orders.
Eventually they'll have to give in and then ... nothing will happen, just like everywhere else that has dealt with shall issue.
Well, nothing except Gura & Posessky will probably redecorate their offices with new gold leaf, courtesy of DC and Chicago taxpayers.
