Age v Death & Injury by Firearms, US for 2013

Last edited Mon Jun 1, 2015, 07:38 AM - Edit history (1)

I spent some time getting these numbers from the CDC site and thought I'd share the data.

One of my insights from reflecting on these numbers is what age to start being concerned about youth suicide is 8. In 2013, 20 youths from ages 9 to 12 killed themselves with a gun. In the same year, 13 year old suicides added 41 to that total.

Is everyone hearing that? Talk with your children; secure your guns. No excuses. Have any grandchildren that are turning 8 soon or in the 8 - 13 range? Talk to them and their parents as well.

Children younger than I thought are apparently depressed to the point of suicide. Maybe some campaign or PSA would help.

for doing that research.

That is a very true message to properly secure firearms and to know the issues our children are having. I hope we can all agree on that.

PS, I thought the CDC was prevented from doing anything about firearms statistics by the NRA? That is what we have been told.
