Watch a Comedian Mow Down Every Stupid Gun Rights Argument You’ve Ever Heard

Watch a Comedian Mow Down Every Stupid Gun Rights Argument You’ve Ever Heard
— July 2, 2015

Tragedy after tragedy in America and yet we still refuse to have any sort of meaningful conversation on the issue of gun control. This Australian comedian shreds any argument you have heard against gun control in one joke.

Watch.

I own guns, they are registered . I passed the background check, and welcomed it. I keep mine in a locked safe, until needed, or I want to go to the range, And they are transported in a metal lock box. I have Trigger locks. I reload Ammo, & That is locked up also.
I exemplify my right to keep & bear arms, AND I am in FAVOR of Gun Control. I have taken all the safety courses. I know how to service, disassemble & re-assemble ALL of my firearms. I don't waste ammo, and don't shoot unless absolutely necessary. I mix the loads in my guns with non-lethal & lethal loads, and KNOW which is which. I actually LIke the points this guy is making, and Really can't stand your KNEE-JERK response here. GET A CLUE.... We have a problem & need to SOLVE IT. This is the post from you I responded to....

49. The reason I asked was because some folks were talking about a policy for each firearm.
I carry a $1million cover policy on my home and land, $1 million on my business, have all my firearms that are not in use in steel fireproof safes installed in a concrete block room inside my home. I have both a alarm system and a fire suppression system.

However I live 30 miles from town on 40 acres and, depending who is on duty at the time, usually must give directions to LE if they are needed.

Despite all of this to many here I am a dirty, scum sucking future murderer with dreams of shooting small children and cats.

I find this disappointing to say the least, and somewhat discouraging.

It is almost elegant in its oblivious hypocrisy. It opens with him quoting himself as saying "assholes" are the reason we have the RKBA group, and then follows up where he quotes himself again, telling off someone for trying to define the GCRA group.

And then he says that it is sort of meta, but he is graciously allowing himself to leave it up for now.

Hey EM:
"Ignore the assholes" - You're referring to multiple people in this thread

"They" (the assholes) "are why GCRA exists on DU"

"as well as having the GC & RKBA group which we are currently in" - The same "assholes" previously referenced

Therefore, the assholes are the reason for the RKBA group. Doesn't matter who you are calling that, you are calling people assholes (which Skinner has spanked you for in the past, if I recall correctly) and saying these assholes are the reason the RKBA group exists. And then you gripe that someone else tried to define the GCRA group.

Though in all fairness, I will admit to the possibility that you were merely engaging in self-loathing (lord knows I would if I were you), and the assholes in question were people like GCRA supporters or hosts, and those people are why GCRA exists. But it seems unlikely, as that sort of thing would certainly get you blocked over at GCRA. But as long as you're being meta, give it a try.

Level unlocked! The first (and thus far only) person to respond positively to EM (aside from himself) is the only other DU member currently blocked from RKBA.

Since he got his hand slapped last time.

But he's got another whining "meta" thread about how mean we all are and how we lie just to get him in trouble.

No great loss. And I can read better cartoons in the local paper anyway.

But between his Ghost Town of a safe haven and the enforcement of the ban on gun posts in GD his "Activist" world just got a whole lot smaller.

Funny, how that "90% of gun control supporters" never seems to translate into either voters or posters in the control group?

I have no ideas about what it would take to turn sick people into well ones, or to undo lifetimes of misshaping personalities.

I think time itself is going to have to bring the cleansing this world needs, as the really sick ones die off. That kind of rabid paranoia has to eventually fade away. It's not really all that natural, is it? I think in time they will wear themselves out, as well as everyone who knows them, and we'll have a far brighter, livelier world.

In order to "mow something down" you have to make accurate and valid points, which is something this misogynist coke head doesn't do. In fact, many of his rant is demonstrably false.
Here is fairly decent shredding of him.

I used to like RoF until I saw what a disgusting anti Mormon bigot Papantonio is.

BTW, now that Leland Yee pled guilty for racketeering, will the Brady Campaign take his name off its Gun Violence Prevention Honor Roll?

in the Commonwealth and UK. He is a misogynist and a Coke head. It is relevant because he is, well, a criminal by definition. He can also easily buy a gun, even in Australia, from the same people who sell him his nose candy. He is also contributing to the gang/gun violence in both countries.
Even if he wasn't, his rant is still demonstrably false on the facts.
Two years ago Papantonio made anti Mormon smears including conspiracy theories that sounded more like Glen Beck than anything rational.
BTW, is personal attacks a consistent view you hold or a double standard?

Read any of the gun-lover's comments on this thread out loud.....hilarious, every time.

The comments sound even more insane when read out loud, but funny at the same time, every one.

I got one minute in before the first serious factual error, so I have my doubts as to whether the remaining fifteen are going to be useful. If there is "one joke" in that segment that "shreds any argument you have heard against gun control", would someone please post it?

But what I like about the very concept of such a joke is that if true, it would mean that an Australian college dropout cocaine user can with a single joke, come up with a more intelligent gun control argument than every American gun control supporter on DU has ever managed.

No comment on whether that would require him to have an IQ of more than 95...

This link popped up at a site where I was looking for something more serious.

I didn't write the material, never heard of the comedian. Didn't know he is a coke-head. Don't care if he's a coke-head.

I will never change my views on guns, believe it's a matter of character, and a whole lifetime goes into creating or crippling character in a person.

I discovered from some of the responses on this thread that there are some people in this forum who seem to be crouched, waiting to get off a pot shot when they feel they've seen the "enemy."

I imagine the chance occurs regularly, as it might be so easy for an intelligent person to embarrass a humper. I've never read through the threads here, but no doubt it's likely the pro-humps wear themselves out.

Judi, if you saw a bumper sticker reading "God said it, I believe it, that settles it", would your initial reaction on how that person thinks be a positive one or a negative one?

If someone told you they were strongly against something and also said they never looked for information on the subject, would that leave a good impression or a bad one?

Would you want either of these two people to be campaigning for laws that affect you? And would you speak up against these people when they tried to do so?

Just asking.

Living in the same world with them, seeing the impact they have on other people has told me all I need to know.

Why on earth would anyone be interested in learning more about guns? People looking for a safe way to kill others, or helpless, frantic animals. What's the attraction to that?

Why on earth would anyone be interested in learning more about guns?

Well, it would keep you from looking exactly like Todd Akin did with his "If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down." You have an opinion. Good for you. Todd Akin had an opinion too. Your respective opinions are worth the exact same amount for the exact same reason.

Being completely against something that you are totally ignorant about makes you look like a doofus, doesn't do anything to help the cause you believe in, and in this case makes liberals in general look like clueless, knee-jerk ideologues. Good job! I can hear the fence-sitters charging their way towards the Democratic Party already!

Your ignorance is especially telling in your comment above. What exactly should this woman have done instead of "looking for a safe way to kill others"? Before you answer, remember that someone informed would know that a 1 ounce pepper spray would have been illegal for her to possess in New Jersey, as would an electric stun gun. And she already had a cell phone, restraining order and security cameras. Perhaps you could join the compassionate moderator of GCRA and say that she is partially to blame for her own murder because she should have picked a better boyfriend? I haven't seen you advocating for legalizing any other option that might have helped her, yet you seem fine with reducing her available choices. I guess when it comes to women, we need someone with your level of information to decide what choices a woman is allowed to make, and not someone with Todd Akin's level of information...

And as far as "helpless, frantic animals" go, that would seem to be closer to how they die in a slaughterhouse than what happens when a hunter shoots one. Did you think that cows go from some doe-eyed sweetie on a milk carton to slabs in a styrofoam tray without first being herded into a building reeking of blood and death and seeing the animal in front of them executed? Because the last animal I shot died in the wild without even knowing what hit them, and it was for my freezer, not for "sport". It did not spend its life in a feedlot, was never jabbed with antibiotics or growth hormones or sprayed with insecticides, and it actually had a chance to live a life rather than being born for the sole purpose of being executed. And it certainly didn't die the "helpless, frantic" death it would have had if it been chased down and killed by a natural predator.

And yet with comments like yours demonstrating pride in your ignorance, you somehow expect to be taken seriously?

"Ignorance is Strength" - One of the three Party slogans of the tyrannical ruling party in George Orwell's 1984 (and soon to be adopted by the Democratic Party for 2016 if Judi has her way)

So he is going to be in a boatload of trouble with his CO. The UCMJ is stricter than civil law.
edit- if he was carrying his issued weapon, which would actually be an automatic weapon, he will likely face a Special Court-Martial; possibly a General Court-Martial. If it was he own weapon he might get by with Article 15 punishment.

But what do you expect Ms Clinton is going to do?

Maybe my civics books were wrong, but last time I checked, the executive branch didn't have the power to create laws.

I'm sure you'll show us, with a reputable cite, where the executive branch has the power to create a new law out of whole cloth any minute now, right?

Or are you just spewing "feelings" all over the place and pretending it's how things work?

They have been strictly regulated if not banned since the 1930s. Even before then, few people actually owned them which is why people like Dillinger stole them from police and national guard armories.

If the rifle was in fact a assault rifle, it was property of the US government and was not authorized to walk around mall with it. "Assault weapons" are whatever some politician wants it to be including target pistols that are mostly used in World Cup and Olympics.

You want to know the ironic thing about the NFA? This shotgun is more tightly regulated in the US than Canada. In Canada, a 12 year old can legally walk around in the woods with it and even buy ammo for it.

Fri Jul 3, 2015, 01:00 PM

Second, the RKBA side of things tends to work on the notion of rational, informed argument and liberal principles. There are places on DU where talking points, appeals to emotion, ethical inconsistency and ignorance of the subject matter are given a lot of weight, but this is not one of them and those sort of things tend to get...let's just say "intense criticism".

If you have any questions, feel free to ask in a post or in private. If you just want to vent and don't actually care about understanding what you are venting about, you'll be rightly ridiculed for that attitude here. It would make your ego feel much better to do it in some other group where that sort of attitude is considered a virtue.
