Mother of slain state trooper sues gun instructor who shot him

PHILADELPHIA >> The mother of slain Pennsylvania State Trooper David Kedra has filed a lawsuit against the firearms instructor who accidentally shot her son in 2014.

On Sept. 30, 2014 Schroeter, of Royersford, along with four other state troopers, attended a firearm training class at the Montgomery County Public Safety training facility in Conshohocken. The training was hosted by Richard Schroeter who was a firearms instructor for the state police.

Schroeter had already taught a course before Kedra, formerly of East Coventry, and the other troopers came in that day and he failed to make sure his weapon was completely unloaded.

During the training, Schroeter was demonstrating the trigger pull on the weapon with it aimed in Kedra’s direction. The weapon went off and Kedra was hit in the stomach

The instructor violated every safety rule and it cost a man's life.

I cannot conceive of any defense thay would have a chance of success.
