Police justifiable homicides have greatly increased in Florida since SYG law.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/national/stand-your-ground-laws-coincide-with-jump-in-justifiable-homicide-cases/2012/04/07/gIQAS2v51S_story_2.html (The link takes you to page three of the story.)

The article is about how citizen justifiable homicides have doubled or tripled in states with SYG laws. Some googling also finds stories on specific states as well as Florida. Texas and Georgia have also seen justifiable homicides more than double since SYG laws were passed. Then I saw this sentence about Florida:

&quot Most justifiable killings are committed by police officers; those cases, which have also tripled, are not included in these statistics.)"

Why have police justified homicides also tripled? Police have never needed SYG laws and they have a duty not to retreat. Why isn't someone taking a closer look at why police shootings have tripled since the SYG law?

pro-restriction articles have failed to see glaring problems in the very articles they publish.

The sentence in bold in the OP should jump off the page for anyone who is honestly attempting to set their biases aside in contemplating the SYG law. The fact that it doesn't for so many - including the author of the article - is very telling.
