(5,046 posts)The outcome is almost a forgone conclusion. The anti-civil rights side, continues to loose clout.
Frankly, if it was not for the "friendly press" coverage they get, they would be ignored. It is very interesting how the Brady campaign can send out a press release, and over the next day or two, it get carried as "fact" in many major newspapers.
The politicians have learned {many the hard way} that lots of "pro gun control" news paper pieces, does not add up to support for gun control.

It takes time to get things through their thick heads, but eventually their staff aides start to advise them to avoid looking too supportive of one issue or another, as losers at the polls and with their constituency.
The NRA learned to develop long term relationships with staff aides years ago by providing information and alternative neutral sources like CDC, DoJ etc., but Brady still thinks they can sway them with a few high profile meetings with the individual politicians.
Then the political types go back and ask for a position paper or POV talking points and fact checking by their staff, so they don't look any dumber than usual, and the Brady wheels start to fall off immediately. After a few times of that happening Brady stops being a reliable source.
