Tucson shooting survivors, family push Holder on guns

Victims and family members of the shooting in Tucson, Ariz. that left six dead and 12 wounded (including former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords) met privately with Attorney General Eric Holder Wednesday to press for stricter measures on the sale of firearms.

The advocates — who have launched a media campaign in concert with New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg's group Mayors Against Illegal Guns — met with Holder to push for better background checks on the sale of guns, particularly those sold privately and at gun shows.

He bought his from a licensed gun dealer. It was not a background-check-free private sale; he passed the background check.

And since he was not involuntarily committed, there would be no mental-health record to deny the sale.

"The Shock Doctrine" are unable to recognize how their side uses crisis to advance their agenda.

Calling for closing the imaginary gun show loophole when the firearm was bought with the Brady NICS check in place. Or trying for another AWB when the gun used was a handgun makes their opportunistic approach kind of obvious to anyone paying attention.

They pulled that off in '93 with the original AWB, but never again.

but it isn't based on reason.

Loughner would have gotten a gun no matter how thorough a background screen you did on him (no convictions, no official mental illness).

that it is Bloomberg's group pushing this just days after his private army conducted a mass shooting on 'one of the busiest streets in America'
