Premature Weapons Testing Drains Military Budget
By Brendan McGarry Friday, January 31st, 2014 12:44 am
Posted in Policy, The Defense Business

The U.S. Defense Department’s top weapons tester had plenty of bad news this week for some of the military’s most expensive weapons programs — from the F-35 fighter jet to the Littoral Combat Ship.

--

The F-35 is a $400 billion dollar project/pipe dream.

The Littoral Combat Ship program is a $19.2 billion dollar program. The Littoral Combat ship was first defined in the Navy's Bluewater program and was supposed to cost $200 million a pop. LCS #1 cost $584 million dollars. LCS #2 cost $704 million dollars. Our congresscritters, in their infinite wisdom, said "Holy Shit!" an promptly ordered another 50 which was subsequently cut to 32.

And then this one:

Navy Alerted to Ford-class Carrier Reliability Issues

A Pentagon weapons report says technologies being developed for the Navy’s new next-generation aircraft carrier, the USS Gerald R. Ford, are not reliable.

--

At somewhere between $16 to $40 billion dollars, design-as-we-go may not be the best way to produce a working, right out the box aircraft carrier. (Psst - that's a shitload of bucks for one ship.)

We lose our social services and continue building this crap.

The US has drone operations in 75 countries.

The US economy would collapse without the Military Industrial Complex.

The US is number one in weapons manufacturing and exporting of weapons.

We supply arms and troops for conflicts all over the globe.

We intentionally cause many of the conflicts.

The Military Industrial Complex budget is sucking the life's blood out of this country and spreading death and destruction on a global scale.

They are creating new enemies by the thousands.
