U.S. Must Demolish Thousands of Its Vehicles in Afghanistan

U.S. troops are likely to spend part of their remaining time in Afghanistan blowing up thousands of their own vehicles, the top commander said Thursday.

It will cost 10 grand to turn each of the 1,230 MRAPs into razor blades. $10,000 x 1,230 = $12,300,000.

This is part of the reason our occupation in Afghanistan costs around $2 billion dollars a week.

I've been saying for years for them to send the boats and planes. What they can't haul away just blow in place. Get the people out and leave Afghanistan alone.

Waste of money? Sure. The waste of life (on both sides of the fight) has an even greater cost though.

The weight of these vehicles and Afghanistan's location makes transporting these vehicle very hard. We used to use Russian Airspace and a lot of times contracted Russian Air Force Transports to move them. I do not see that happening any time soon. Best overall solution is to sell them to the Indian Armed forces. Bitter rivals to the Pakistani's, Large Counter Balance bordering China, shorter and cheaper movement requirements. Hell we may even save some money or break even.
