Fort Gordon in Augusta getting new cyber general
August 3, 2014

AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) — The Army has named a new top general to lead a big expansion of its cyber warfare operations at Fort Gordon in Augusta.

The Augusta Chronicle reports (http://bit.ly/1sgvkZH ) Maj. Gen. Stephen Fogarty is scheduled to take command in September of the Army's Cyber Center of Excellence at the base. He will arrive as Fort Gordon anticipates an influx of troops to staff the Pentagon's expanding cyber intelligence operations.

Fogarty comes to Augusta from Fort Belvoir, Virginia, where he served as commanding general of the Army Intelligence and Security Command.

At Fort Gordon he will succeed Maj. Gen. LaWarren Patterson, who is taking a new job at Joint Base San Antonio, Texas.
