USA Discounters fined by government, ordered to refund consumer fees

A federal agency says it has put an end to deceptive practices by a chain of retail stores with locations near military posts.

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau announced Thursday that it had fined USA Discounters Ltd. $50,000 and ordered more than $350,000 in refunds to service members.

USA Discounters has 31stores across the United States, including Fayetteville and Jacksonville.

It sells furniture, electronics and appliances, marketing itself to members of the armed forces.
