Can I ask for a little help.

I have been trying to find the name of the first Black man to complete West Point, because of a story I heard.

I know it is a Google it yourself thing but I am coming up empty. I have to leave soon and I would want to use his name tonight.

1st of the 10th Cavalry.

By 1993 it was part of an armored Combined Arms Task Force, and hadn't had horses for 60 years. But there was a painting of him up in the lobby of the barracks.

Despite his great accomplishment, he was treated with such disrespect during his lifetime.

The story that I heard was that the reason he was able to complete was the honor code. You can't fuck over a fellow cadet, and complete with honor. So they chose not to speak to him. Mr Flipper went through the 4yrs. of the point without anyone saying a word to him, pass or fail was all on him. To me this a romantic story. Just think of it! 4yrs with no one telling you their smallness is your fault. Man I am swooning.

Really though, that was my take away before the research I am starting now. I am vary OK with finding out what I am about in my life, without being told what I am about before I start. Then having self for-filling prophecies nag me all the way to my grave. Really, I swoon.

Once more, Thank You
