Well ... DU is on the campaign's radar.
But read the letter ... and tell me what is missing.
And THAT is why I am unencouraged. Sighhhh
(I started this thread because Steve posted it to the Bernie Group ... where I am blocked, otherwise I would have posted the question to that that.)

(19,460 posts)Nothing on racial injustice, nothing on BLM, nothing on women's issues, nothing on LGBT. For Bernie it is all about money and who has some and who doesn't. That is all that matters because when you economic justice, there will be nor more racism, no more women's issues etc.............

(31,816 posts)I'm telling them to fuck off and they will never get my vote.
I take comfort in the fact that he will NOT be the nominee and since I live in a blue state -
I can stay home, vote green, hell - vote Conservative Party - because I'm not voting for him.

(14,530 posts)As much as I like Bernie, he can be pretty tone deaf. yeah, his voting record. By ignoring major voting blocks, unless pushed to address them, he is not doing himself any favors.

(31,816 posts)I wonder if this is just a reflection of the type of voter they see at DU?

(31,816 posts)Hey Sanders campaign!
I'm officially hostile to my so-called fellow Democratic Party members who think a cookie, an extra dime, and a pat on the head will make racism and sexism just poof and fade into thin air.
Know why Bern? Because of your supporters.
And one more thing Oh Great Fuckin' One -
Didja know that being black and having a net worth of more than $500 automatically - in the eyes of your white working class supporters who start from 'all blacks are poor and on welfare' - makes a black person a 'rich person'.
I'll take the hide - Because they are gonna alert and hide on me for telling your aide/campaign to fuck off because god forbid I don't think you are an untouchable one. See even though I touched a Campaign - it's considered a personal attack even though it was your PAID employee who wrote that lette.r
Like I said - I'm hostile. Deal with it.

If they are watching DU
http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1187&pid=29197
REASON FOR ALERT
This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.
ALERTER'S COMMENTS
Racist, classist group attack. She's right--it should be hidden.
You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Thu Oct 15, 2015, 09:54 AM, and the Jury voted 3-4 to LEAVE IT.
Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Hostile indeed. And calling out an entire group for the actions of a few is not fair. That being said, I think this being posted in the AA group makes it a bit more protected - the post is, after all, an opinion.
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #3 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: Enough already.
Juror #4 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Its a little harsh, but I don't see it violates DU rules any more than thousands of other comments.
Juror #6 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #7 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: I have no tolerance for openly hostile people. We
should learn to discuss our differences in a civil manner.
Thank you very much for participating in our Jury system, and we hope you will be able to participate again in the future.

Not even to merit a single line in a thank you letter (which his supporters are fine with) ... unless he is forced/pressed to speak to it (which his supporters, seemingly, pretend to be okay with ... until someone points out "Oops, you forgot me, again, again", so F@#% him."

(31,816 posts)That this op came from . . .
How did I tell any lies.
Were you or were you not told that you don't get it because you aren't in the ghetto and living in poverty?
Which is how they want us . . . Which is why I don't trust them.
1StrongBlackMan
(31,849 posts)I don't think they want us broke and in a ghetto ... rather, they want us silent, if we aren't singing their tune, whether we are broke or wealthy (so long as wealthy is not more than they have ... which is a whole 'nother matter. )
But yes ... I have been told on multiple occasions that I don't get it and/or don't care because I am doing financially okay.

(108,977 posts)I like both candidates and know I'll work for WHOMEVER in the general. But I speak up for Hillary from time to time because so many people are trashing her. She might be our nominee and I don't think people should be trying to kneecap her.
But on DU lately, unless you're playing the Bernie tune from morning till night, you're at least a suspect, and probably an enemy.

Now, the letter to me is what you said, it is targeted to the selfish, white males who make up the majority of his supporters on DU
You know, people who say they care about the other issues but in fact will sacrifice them, if necessary, to improve their wallet.
That is who Bernie is appealing to here and elsewhere, and it is in part his fault because he is so single minded on his message.
The Bernie Sanders I KNOW exists, will be as good if not better on social issues, than anyone else in the party
BUT
My knowing this in my gut and his convincing people who have everything at stake, i.e. people who are not white, str8t males like myself, are two different things.
The attempt to hide your post, well let me say this, you Bernie supporters who act like that DONT FUCKING BELONG HERE OR ANYWHERE DECENT PEOPLE GATHER

(24,544 posts)This letter seems to be a step back. Or five.
Or maybe he's just read DU enough to know that social issues have never resonated with the posters here?? If anything, that's more of a condemnation of DU than Bernie Sanders.
I just saw the bottom thread in the OP where 1SBM actually deleted his OP because of the responses from people who see absolutely nothing wrong with a Democratic candidate for president spending three paragraphs talking about economics but can't spend one sentence talking about reproductive rights. I don't think that anyone is the slightest bit surprised though.

Yes, it is ... and I self-deleted because it is clear ... He has shown my primary issue is of less importance to him ... Not even to merit a single line in a thank you letter (which his supporters are fine with) ... unless he is forced/pressed to speak to it (which his supporters, seemingly, pretend to be okay with ... until someone points out "Oops, you forgot me, again, again."
So, are we beyond any doubt why he is struggling to attract support within the African-American electorate?

(6,147 posts)I'm not paying close attention to the Presidential race 'cause I'm too busy campaigning for Donna...
With that said, what do the feminists, the Latinos/Latinas, the LGBTQ community and the eco-people think of the Bern? Did he say anything major about immigration reform? Has he said anything about the Equality Act? Has he promised to fight for recognition of climate change?
Or is he actually a "single-issue" candidate? Yeah, it's a big issue, but it can't be the only one.
And while I'm at it, what carrots has Hillary offered?

(1,053 posts)Actually, I remember back in the spring, I think it was, back when Warren was the
anti-Hillary...or maybe even longer. The conversation was exactly the same,
revolving around EW and secondarily around BS. "Corporate interests," "money,"
"1%." A predictable recipe, not with bad ingredients, but incredibly simplistic.
Then, I was hit with a few impressions. One was of internet of internet elitism.
It's the whole "echo chamber, hype machine" thing. Hard to explain, it's one of
the same feelings I associate with something like, say, "Anonymous."
Then the an impression of tone deaf entitlement (though, at the time,
that was strongly flavored by this particular individual I was talking to).
The part that brushes of BLM and says "Hey, trust me! If we do what
I want, we'll all be doing awesome soon!" It's like...the hipster/beatnik
element that spouts off about urban renewal/revival when really, they're
talking about gentrification.
And then there's the impression that wasn't there then, but I see now.
The well to do white libertarian. I suppose as Bernie rose to the front of the
challenger position, the liberal leaning (and even some more conservative minded)
libertarians have been rolled into the fold. An older group, for the most part,
your yuppies of yesteryear.
Now, there are a plenty of other people, a lot of well meaning people...or hell,
a lot of those in the categories above would count as well meaning. It's just,
there's a whole lot of unawareness (willful or otherwise) that seems to be
a repeating theme, and it really annoys the hell out of me (and I'm just a
straight, white, male). It's something I've had my fill of in the anthropology
department (you'd be surprised how many ostensibly open minded, aware people
there are), and it's something I'm tired of in general.

(24,544 posts)Not one mention on the attacks on abortion and women's reproductive rights. Not one mention of anything even resembling foreign policy.
If the economy is the single thing you care about more than anything else, then it's a great letter. It's a very rousing letter.
If however you are concerned about other issues or think that other things are every bit as important as chasing after the 1%, that letter really does make it pretty clear that Sanders may not be the candidate for you.
randys1
(16,286 posts)he is alone pretty much in the Senate as well.
His single focus is what we need but maybe not in a president.
I still think he can be a great prez, but the single focus issue is concerning.
He did go out of his way to mention Sandra Bland, nobody else did.
He knows what to do, he just has to do it.

(31,849 posts)I know (believe) Steve really is in touch with the campaign and I trust him when he says the campaign does read DU ... just as the HRC and Martin O'Malley campaign does.
After all this once great place WAS, in fact, one of the largest on-line Democratic gathering spot ... But that was before we elected a Democratic President ... and the place has been getting less Democratic by the day.
