I've noticed something rather disturbing in the past few days

That some people seem to hold an accused child rapist in higher regard than the Democratic President of the United States.

I hope I am misunderstanding the situation and am wrong about this.

That some of the biggest Obama detractors are also some of Woody's most ardent defenders.

At risk of sounding like a student of McCarthy - I have lists in in my head. Screen names that fall into certain "buckets". Time and again I see certain "buckets" fill up with the same people. Your assessment is spot on.

He lost me when he went public about his sexual abuse liaison with Soon Yi. I find him totally disgusting.

And think that the 1960s were so fabulous because all of that oppression and shit that made people miserable, made them go LITERALLY mad was just the coolest thing EVA!! I mean, what black person doesn't want to go back to the JOY of 1963??! What's WRONG with us that that you can count on one hand the number of people of color, women, gays etc. etc. etc. that have even the SLIGHTEST bit of interest in going backwards instead of forwards??

Cause all of that fear, death and misery lead to people marching in the streets! By that "logic," I guess the real time to be an American was during slavery! Look at all of the fighting, chaos and turmoil that came after that!1!

I'll just put this here http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1002&pid=4445549

the flowery commercialized version of it.

The only thing good was I still had living family and was young. The world had too much hypocrisy, death and hatred, and the few lights in the darkness were snuffed out.

I left a memorial thread to one of those killed when the reply to my comment that it still hurt, got a response from a poster who ecstatically gushed on about how 'glorious' it was people continued to come forward to be killed because of idealism. And actually used that word, 'glorious.'

Yes, they wanted to be martyrs for the viewing public. Sure they did. Which said to me this guy thinks life in those days was nothing but a freaking movie.

Could not have lived during those days of horror, seeing people's lives being taken away and our hearts broken. It was not a flick where they left the stage of life so others could be next in the shooting gallery to entertain people.

As to that link. I can't imagine why a GOP can never find anything good to say about Obama. We're all supposed to lap that sour milk up and like all of it. Right...

is, sadly, but completely unsurprising.

Reading through numerous threads, I have noticed that the most ardent 4th Amendment Privacy advocates, seem completely in denial, as to the real world need to balance that privacy with national security ... The loudest voices for "going over the fiscal cliff" seemed oblivious to the real world meals and house/rent payments and medication purchase that would have been missed, had we done so ... And the Civil Rights Battles, which they only conceive of as occurring on the streets, with dogs and fire hoses and klansmen, whether in costume, or not, and as chronically by the Time Magazine photographers; rather than, the daily grinding of dignity and spirit.

Why? ... I suspect it's because they never have been called to pay any price for their romanticized notions of the conflicts they would fight but for their not having to.

With a hot poker than find myself dropped back into 1963.

No way - no how.

I'm weak. I would curl up into a ball and die.
