‘I Don’t Wanna Let You Go’ — A Bittersweet Tribute To President Barack Obama

I think for many of us who love President Barack Obama, it’s just now sinking in: in just a few months, he will no longer be our president.

As excited as most of us are about making history when we elect our first Madam President, Hillary Clinton, we’re going to be grieving the loss of this amazing man, one of the most popular presidents in our history.

As liberals, we’re pretty good at supporting our candidates, even if we sometimes /facepalm and sigh when they screw up. But with Barack Obama, it’s different somehow. For many of us, he WAS the revolution.

Near the end of his second term, Pres. Obama’s approval rating stands at a crazy high of 55 percent.

A meme my brand new niece-in-law shared with me:

A few of the many reasons we admire him so much.

I've witnessed his presidency. For the many who have his back. For the wonderful people I've met here & offline. I appreciate & love them all.

but at the same time there's a part of me that wants him to leave for the wellbeing of him and his family - the job is probably killing him. Look at him from 2008, and look at him now. He's barely past 50 but looks at least 15 years older due to the nature of the job. And I think Obama is going to have a hell of a post-presidency (maybe even over Carter), so I am deeply, deeply looking forward to that. But dammit I'm gonna miss him.

Stay the hell off my thread! You would be funny if you weren't so pathetic!

BTW, thanks for kicking my OP.

What a Democrat. What a man. What a human being. What an incredible eight years he's given us. The only person who measures up is his wife--a perfect match.

Weird to think it will actually hurt to have him out of the Oval Office.
